I swapped alternators and my battery still wont charge??

I have a 1998 kouki sr20 in my 97 240sx. the car has sat for a while i will admit that. the alternator clicks in and out i can notice in the dash lights as they will get dimmer at times? so my first guess was well the alternator is goin bad, so i swapped it. still the same problems. I think its the lower harness wiring. is there a specicfic wire i should be looking for, or maybe an electrical relay that could be causing this?? thanks

check if the ground is good off the batt, also what do you mean by "it clicks" do you actually here something click? or does it just periodically work?

Clicking means you're getting electric to the starter, but not enough to actually turn it over.. Have you tested the battery? Cold tends to kill them. See if it's still able to hold charge.
