I am doing a swap and need to get the SR out of the old shell.

I stripped the nut connecting my passenger side mount to the chassis.

what should I do?I have new motor mounts so I dont care If i have to destroy these old ones.

assasin7420 tells me that heating it up with a torch will can get it out. but its stripped fairly bad. I am tempted to cut the B*tch off.

Am i supposed to remove the crossmember?

If your thinking of the gator grip i have broken way to many of them to even give it a try.

I say take propane torch to the bolt and try to get it off that way. If not its plasma cutter time.

Is the bolt completely rounded off? If not you can probably get that out with the socket that removes stripped nuts/bolts. I think sears sells them as sets. Not too sure.

the hack saw isnt a bad move either but it worries me that the tip wobbles like mad as it cuts. but...

it shouldn't matter.

I am using these mounts

but soon after I learned that They are stiff and the engine will vibrate.

I am hoping that a torque dampner will smooth it out, or ill just live with it. I might actually like the vibration.

The engine torque dampener and engine mounts might actually give you more vibration throughout the car.

That makes sense actually. thank you, I dont know if its worth It, I've got to ask around, because mostly I want a civil daily driver. and weekend auto crosser.

your s14 is mad nice. [ you should add some wider wheels with a low offset ]

Now I am wondering If I should even keep the new mounts.

yeah that sounds like the plan. It can be done.

i could so relate to you right now. i put on the same mounts in my 92 s13 and i stripped the passenger side nut also. it was so bad that it was literally rounded. channel locks and all the plumbing tools cant get it out. i ended up using a hacksaw and saw right in between the subframe and mount. i really dont like the idea but i had no other choice. why i don't like it is because after completing the task, i shaved about 1/8 or 1/4 inch off the subframe. i love the mounts, it makes even my stock ka sound like a n/a sr, which sadly performs like a ka. hahaha

Great thats +1 for the mounts..

and how is the vibration? If I could ride with a passenger...

refer to Exhibit A,

EXHIBIT A

and this person feels comfortable then I thinks its a good choice.

I just want a comfortable car...that hauls @ss and pulls hard.

i think exhibit A would not really like the bull ride feel but you would love to see how dave chappelle felt when he as in that skit of his. "COME ON TITTIES!" i love it because i rather have a stiff ride than a bouncy ride. i have an acura for weekend car already.

Ill find the happy medium, I can always soften the ride on the coil overs.

its all about the balance. Comfort is important when there are passengers involved. Even when I don't have a girl that looks like Exhibit A

thanks for the adice people, ill post results. with pics hopefully

The tool from home depot worked, thanks it wasnt the same one as yours i think, but damn it was effective

It murders nuts though, mercilessly. but that particular one deserved it, plus a whooping.
