I just started driving my car recently, I have been working on it for a year prior and let it sit for 2 months while I was out of town.

Now when im driving I smell a strong scent of gas.

Are there any common problems with the gas tanks of the 89-90 240's? it is not my injectors as the smell is comming from the rear of the car adn in the trunk.

Need help any long trip with out ventilation makes me feel sickish.

check the o ring around the gas tank... where the fuel pump is

it will often warp after 10 years+

umm depends on how you look at it

the pump is held against the tank with the ring in between

Another place to check are the rubber fuel lines in the engine bay and at the fuel tank. I had a small leak at the one above the intake manifold and another larger leak at the large rubber line that vents the air in the fuel tank to the filler. If you haven't done so already, switch the rubber fuel lines with new (injection, not low pressure) lines.
