I made a post here about a month ago reguarding the fact that my 1995 Infiniti J30 had just recently hit 100k miles and to compound my problems I found out I had some type of exhaust issue because when the dial hit about 100,025 the engine got very loud all of a sudden. So I made a post on this wonderful godsend of a website and everyone was of great help. I tried to narrow down where the problem was and I took it to an exaust shop that a friend recommended and they patched up a leak in the under carriage for exactly $90. The J runs like a dream now, but my question now is how long a "patch job" like this usually lasts? Should I prepare to replace it in awhile? Also, being that I just hit 100k is it about time for a transmission flush and other long term maintenice type things? (I am bit upset because some folks told me what I needed to do in my previous post, but for some strange reason it got ERASED!!! Lol.) Thank for your help.

Patch job:Depending on how well they did it and how big the hole was: at least 6 months to quite possibly several years.

I'll let the J30 guys cover the maintenance details.

Fred...:)

I would say that the patch job you justn got will outlast the rest of the exhaust system... IE you will have a failure somewhere else before the patch fails!

Could you fill us in on whats been done so far.. If you dont know, let us know and we can start you out on a restoration program.....

Start doing a search on "J30 timing belt." This will give plenty of info. I would say that you should budget $3K for major systems maintenance in the next couple of years. Your suspension will need looking after and that is not cheap. The timing belt replacement is coming right up.
