Need a new starter for a redtop SR20DET and a few questions...

Will the Sentra SE-R starter work?

Is the 13, 14, and 15 starters the same?

Does anyone have a parts list with parts numbers for a starter rebuild?

Thanks in Advance!

The only usdm parts that will work for an sr starter is the solenoid from a KA. Other than that you will need the head from an SR as its the only starter to fit on through the transmission and engine block of an SR. I have a starter for sale. Its been checked and its working great (I had to do the test as the employees were noobs). Buying a KA starter will get you about $40-60 and you can't use the head, so buying mine will help you in not only having a solenoid, but the head. Whats wrong with ur starter. IF your gear isnt popping out than its an easy fix. A ka24de solenoid matches.

dont no if this is true but i think i read on hear if u take a sohc ka starter and put the front part of the sr starter on it it will bolt up and work .not sure thought. .....600 buck for a starter is steep you can always go to a eletcrik moter rebuild place and they can rebuild it for u

I came across this thread in a google search... Mishimoto just released an SR20 starter which is way cheaper than an OE replacement and it has a lifetime warranty, check it out on their website.

CA20E starter from a 84-88 Nissan 200SX will work, if you cut one of the ears off and don't mind bolting it in with one bolt.

It's a bit bigger than a real SR starter, so you have to remove the intake support that goes around the starter.

I've been using the old CA starter on my SR since I swapped engines, the bolt has never loosened up once. Still starts with out a single problem, and it's the original 22 year old starter!

I have an s13 blacktop, I used a KA24DE starter. I had to change pulleys as the SR belts have an extra rib on them, and I had to put a spacer on it to keep from binding on the starter housing. this wasn't a big deal though, the auto parts store had extra spacers in a parts bin and used an impact gun right there to change them out.

Other than that, on the front of the starter part of the housing will hit something when you try to bolt it up(I can't remember what it was now). I used a grinder and took about 1/3 of an inch off of it. It looks like on of the posts that the grounding wire is supposed to connect to.

anyway, once that part is trimmed down it fits fine. been driving on mine for about a year, costed ~$120 I think? IDK it was a while ago. Hope this helps.
