12:30 pm, i drive my stock ka24de s13 over to my girlfriends house
2:00pm, i get back in my car and it's idling at 500rpms, rough, and the entire car is shaking, and when revving/idle it has a deep rumble type sound/feel too it ( not to sound dumb but if you go bub, bub, bub, bub, bub ) it sounds just like it, and i have a dramatic loss in power

i replaced the plugs today, and it raised the idle a little bit ( now 750rpm ) almost about where it used to be, but still has the bub bub bub bub sound to it, and loss of power

wanted to check with you guys and see what you thought it could be, im thinking its the maf or a vacume leak, so im checking all hoses tomorrow morning, a new maf is quit expensive, so im wondering if you guys have any less expensive ideas first.

thanks, i did search, but kinda didn't get an exact list of things to check off

im curious as what everyone will say to this. my car does the same thing, only when it hasnt been started in a while. Like the first time I start it up for the day. Most of the time it will die, and then I'll restart it and it'll be fine. Or it will run like excactly how you described untill i restart it.

Unplug the MAF and start it back up and see if the idle changes.

Are you burning anything now? Coolant/Oil?

To check the injectors...
start the car. Then go down the line 1 by one and unplug a spark plug. See if you idle changes. If it does, plug it back in and go down the line. If you unplug it and the idle doesnt change, theres your bad injector.

This has happened to me twice actually. Two of my injectors failed at different times and the car was doing exactly as you described. Just pull the injector plugs while the car is running and see which one that you pull doesn't affect the cars current running state. Go pull a side feed injector from either an infinity g20 or a nissan altima from the 90's. I'm sure you'll find PLENTY at the local auto yard.

When you do find which injector it is, you'll need to find out which type of side feed it is. Some of the filters are on different positions of the injector.

See which kind yours is. It doesn't really matter if you mix match them but the car will run smoother with all the same types of injectors.

tested the injectors like ya said by removing one spark plug wire at a time while running, and found out its the 2nd injector not working, so i ordered a new one from my parts guy...was $103 bucks out the window...

next question however, anything i need to know or be aware of when taking off the injector? any lines or hoses to watch for that either have high pressure or fuel in them?

OR just go to the junk yard, get 4 of them. Get an o ring kit and a can of seafoam..... Soak the tips in seafoam, clean them up and you got 4 of them for I dunno, 30 bucks. The aftermarket parts ones are junk for the most part, OEM or quality aftermarket.

rather just spend the extra 70 and get a part i know will work, instead of getting some used ones that could just s*** on me a couple more miles down the road.

that and sea foam wont touch my motor...not going to get into it, cause of avid sea foam fans on this forum, but me personally...no thanks

I have seen it time and time and time again.... The rebuilt parts store injectors fail and fail fast. Chances are you will be replacing it soon..... OEM or quality aftermarket, but your heart is set so keep us posted.

I never used seafoam before and no reason for me to use as well. I just use 93 octane gas and drive.

what does 93 octane have to do with seafoam?
its an injector cleaner/fuel conditioner/carbon buildup killer.
are you saying your engine has ZERO carbon buildup?

yeah not sure what octane has to do with anything O.o
but yes it does work wonders, i used it before also on my monte carlo and thought it was the " bees knees " until i showed it to my teacher ( he works for a Subaru race team, and builds nastyyyyy cars ) and he just said " no way in hell is that going in any of my cars " , the chemicals in it, can be damaging to an engine.

So this is what I recommend for removing the injector bolt...

Get a socket and rig it up to hold 1/4 bits with a screwdriver head that fits perfectly in the injector bolt. Spray some sort of penetrating oil. Then push really hard and turn to break the bolt loose. If you slip its all over for that one. I had to Easy-Out 5 of the 8 bolts. My recommendation is to replace the bolts with hex heads or torque bolts or something you can put a socket over. I did stainless steel hex bolts and it looks pretty spiffy.

yeah its completely effed, there's no getting anything in there any more, were ganna use a cut wheel and cut a slit in it so we can you a really effing big flat head to get it, ...if not easy out the next option. were ganna replace the 2 screws with a regular nut style bolt.

Ah that sucks I had the same thing happen on my SR and had to do the exact same fix hahaha. I ended up going to Lowe's and getting 8 allen bolts to put in there so I never have to worry about those stupid a** screws.

lol why did you do that? You coulda got one from the junkyard for $25 bucks like I did :slap: .. And on top of that, you may have gotten the wrong filter position which might cause your car to idle really high, but you have it now so... yea lolz

What you need to do to get it off is take a screw driver (I prefer an electric drill) and press down really hard on the cap screws. If you don't press down hard enough you might end up stripping it like I did lolz. Then take a flat head screw driver and insert the head in the small groove where the terminal is. Then you gotta push down on the screw driver until the injector pops out. To get the other injector in you just put it in the hole and tap it with a hammer into position.

I seriously wrote a couple different responses to this thread, which is very amusing. Now I'm just tired, and have to return to work. The long of the short however, is that everything works on a case by case basis. Parts fail used or new. this is just horrible.
