Yea, knowing nothing about ka motors, (had prelude before) I flipped the head over and all the lil caps fell out!!! Now, how the heck am I suppose to know which order it goes in now since someone told me thwe were all diff thicknesses. Am I screwed?? Is there anyway to put my head back and and cams at base timming again?

do you mean shims? and there is allways a way to put it back together just might be painstakeingly long, think about when they do compleat rebuilds.

first, measure the thickness of each shim in a dial caliper. record your data on a chart (label them so you know whats what). gonna have to check the clearances between the bottom of each cam lobe and shim. then adjust by swapping out shims in different valve locations to fall within stock spec (based on FSM)

You have a LONG night ahead of you. I did nearly the same thing when I rebuilt my motor last year. Took me approx. 5 hours from start to finish. Go team!

o my, ive seen those things in person and u may need a twelve pack to get you thru it all............

Yeah you might want to make it a case but get a FSM and use that as your guide like klattr1 said, and drinking and car repairs don't allways go together just most of the time hehe good luck

thanks a bunch guys, it sounds like it's gonna be a PITA to fix it, ohwell, I really enjoy working on it. My head is being resurfaced and I can't wait to get it working again. I wish I woulda paid someone to do it, because taking the head off is a FPITA!!
