In any case, I did some looking around yesterday and the P238 is indeed now on the Sigarms website. Its not in the Pistols section, instead you have to go to the new products section and click on the thumbnail.
My built to a price point applied to the looks of the Kel-Tec only. Mechianically, it works as well or better than many handguns double its price.

After the "fluff & buff" I view as a requirement for any pistol, I completely trust my life to that sub $300 pistol.

The P238 is indeed a sweet pistol! I don't know if its enough to convince me to go from 9mm to .380, though.

What sucks about a CC permit is that in our state its really only good in the county your in but most of the times they let it slide, Also you pretty much cant carry out of state...

That's a fair statement and one I completely agree with. If you trust what you are carrying a low price doesn't mean anything. I've known people that think that possession of any gun, no matter the quality was all they need to prevent crime.

I'm so close to being in the same camp as you. I get crap from the .45 crowd about how 9mm is inadequate, can't imagine the chuckles I'd get from carrying a .380. But for me, that's just it...I'd always carry it.It would never get left behind because it was too bulky or because I wasn't wearing the right clothing due to the season. With you being in FL its certainly more of an issue than it is for me being in the mountains in TN.

When, not if, I eventually range fire one I'll let you know. After all, it doesn't matter how nice it looks or what's written on the spec sheet if it doesn't feel great and deliver "A Zone" accuracy on demand. Especially with the calibre.

Less adequacy of the round than cost of the round. I like to shoot, and I believe in shooting what you carry a lot. 9mm ammo is dirt, dirt cheap. .380 is not.

Getting comfortable with my .32 ACP pistol hurt the wallet, baaaaad.

That said, I DO really like that P238

I want to pick up a nice 9mm for shooting at the range just due to the fact that .45acp ammo is alot more expensive than 9mm and I shoot so damn often in the summer (2-3 times a week) that I can hardly afford it + my car build.

I'm telling you. It was weird since I had been doing considerable research comparing size, weight, capacity...the usual stuff. I was narrowing down my list but even the pieces that stayed on weren't doing it for me. Then I stumbled on a link on some 1911 forum when I was researching .380 ammo and as Emeril would say, "Bam!" I'm not sure how comfy those grips will be though - they look a little akward, but that's an easy fix. I can only hope for a threaded barrel in a couple of years.

I hear you completely on the ammo front too. You'd think a .380 round, being a 9mm short, should cost less. I know, I know...its about production volume but it just doesn't seem right. Its even worse when you factor in range practice with your carry ammo. I've known some people that would practice with wwb or something equally cheap and then load something completely different when they would CC.

The Kimber Ultra-Carry seems like a good CC gun. It is probably high maintenance like the rest of the 1911 family but I wouldn't mind owning one, price tag is a little high unfortunately.

I have been carrying a Taurus Mil Pro .40 for a couple months and like it. It is the same size as a Glock S/C .40 with a slightly longer grip. Fits very easily down in a pocket, yet, in a coat pocket or something it tends to get a little heave and makes the coat want to pull to one side. Therefore it is a little on the bulky side, I wouldn't mind a thinner gun, I think the main reason for the bulkiness is the staggered form of the magazine. Can't find a good holster for it but it isn't mine anyway, I'm just testing it out.

Not to jack your thread or anything, but how does everyone carry? IWB Holster, Open Carry, Shoulder, Pocket, etc...? I would like to find the most comfortable yet easiest access way to conceal but I haven't tried many different methods.

in this thread, I announce my hipocracy.

yup...I just stimulated the economy. Kahr PM9

I fondled it too long...it's a very well put together piece, the feed ramp is damn near a mirror.

it had night sights...I just dropped 700 on it.

I probably could've gotten it cheaper if I really looked, but I got tired of going to stores and finding nothing.

stellarrigs.com actually makes a necklace holster for the Keltec's as well as the NAA revolvers.

I'm gonna go shoot my Kahr now, I'll let you know how I feel about it.

shot it yesterday.

just a 100 rounds of 115 Blazer.

no problems...held it upside down sideways and every other way I could.

recoil isn't bad at all.

I bet I can squeeze a 3 inch group at 25yds out of it if I really try.

from here on out, I'll shut up about Kahr Arms.

unless something happens to really piss me off...but until then I'm very happy with the purchase.

You have my rapt attention. Tell me more. (I'd get the PT111 in 9mm, but close enough).

I like it a lot so far. My brother paid for it but he is 20 and can't carry it anyway, so I am breaking it in for him. I have put probably close to 200 FMJ's through it.. I need to go shooting again and throw some Golden Sabres at it since that's what I carry. It feeds the Remmington FMJ very well though. Smooth action and a tight slide spring (Comparing to my Glock 22 which feels like you could sling it forward and the slide would move a little). Some people don't like them but it's the same size as the G27 with a grip that is enough to actually hold on to. Fits nicely in a pocket too.

Nice, I just ran the specs...its seems my choice of P238 isn't etched in stone like as it was earlier in the thread.

I crossed the Mil Pro off my list a while back because the one I had looked at was DAO. The 145 has changed things! Its still a bit bigger than I'd like, but I can also carry .45 instead of .380.

Mav, I'd love to hear some of your thoughts on it when you get some time to post them. And Charlie - thanks for posting that pic and starting all this!

I put a few guns on layaway today. Another Saiga 12, a Marlin Cowboy 45-70 lever action (with a 9 round tube!), and an XD 9 subcompact.

I'm curious to know if I will really end up liking that XD 9. Felt nice in my hand.

Just reserved the next PT-111 in stainless w/ the 12 round mag that my local shop gets. Should be here by Thursday! $380. Crossbreed Supertuck ordered!

In the mean time, find the funny:

bwhahahahaahahahahahh....oh jesus.....

that's a HUGE fail when you find it.

Bo, you'll probably like the XD...feels like a short service model with the extended mag in it.

I like them...they're just a bit thick...I might get an XD40SC when you can actually find .40 ammo the shelf again.

that said...I bought 500 rounds of Remington 115 FMJ 9mm to put through the Kahr.

I got my supertuck in the mail on thursday I think. gotta send the mag carrier back as the XD45 mags won't fit in it.

I think they were made for fit a .40 or 9mm....

I like it so far...need to actually go get my carry permit now.

Are you looking for inexpensive or pricy?

If you want inexpensive, look for a nice Taurus, just make sure you check it out and make sure everything works.

Taurus quality control is spotty at times but overall, their revolvers usually have a quite a bit better reputation than their semis. I have one of their semis, flawless as it may be.

You also might want to check into a Charter 38spcl. They are spotty as well but when you get a good one, they are good.

ANd if you have money, you can't beat Smith and Wesson or Colt but you are going to pay.

Ruger is also a good choice for revolvers but they are heavier than the others, but solid and reliable.

Hmm, Ill probably end up with an S&W, but I own a colt buntline .22lr, its a pretty wicked old revolver lol, maybe I can find an old police model colt .38 special, that would be a nice score.

I own a Glock 27 myself and am quite happy with it. Grip is a lil tight but it helps to buy the grip extenders for the magazines. .40S&W is a great caliber. More stopping power than a 9mm and not as big of a recoil as .45.

I find .40 S&W kicks "sharper" than the push that is .45 ACP

I also find Glocks to be uncomfortable as hell.

agreed.

my XD is pretty damn easy to control.

the .40 has more buck to it.

Logan, check out the Ruger SP101 too, it's a great little revolver.

nothing wrong with a j frame smith though
