I am new to the forum. Its cool to see that the 240 has such a bigfollowing. I got m 89 240 a month ago . The paint sucks, but itruns, well at least it did when I drove it home.

Would anyone know why the engine shakes so damn much?It started to run like crap recently. I haven't really drove since I boughtit, it needed a few things taken care of like brakes and the exaust manifold had 3 bolts missing from it. So I got that fixed and now the engine is acting retarded, shaking like crazy and it sounds like a lawn-mower and has poor excelaration.

If someone has had the same problem please let me know.I would greatly appreciate any info.

Oh yeah, my name is Dan and I live in Texas, so howdy ya'll!Ill put pictures up when she isn't three differentcolors.

for the shaking problem you could use new engine mounts. the stock ones suck, my engine used to shake hella too. Since it runs like sh** i'd take it in for a tune up. Get someone who knows what they're doing. Bad acceleration could be a number of things like spark plugs, intake(restricted airflow to the engine), or something more severe like a cylendar that is not firing or a blown head gasket, or fried bearings. Has it been overheating?

The enige is near 20 years old, bad things happen.Start making a list of replacement parts. It's easier to replace things all at once.Check for rust on and UNDER your body frame. If you see ANY take them out ASAP and coat the new paint with rubber.

I didn't overheat when I drove it home. But now I don't let it run long enough to overheat, cuz of the way it sounds. It sounds likeit's in pain. Maybe I shouldn't have let the gas get on empty. Who knowswhats at the bottom of the tank. You're right, I should let a pro look at it. I am still learning.

if it shakes hella bad I would check your injectors to see if they are worken'. MAS as well. you could check these with the car runnen'. do them 1 at a time, I would start with the MAS. if you disconect it (at this time look at the conection and wires to make sure they are good) and the car runs better, cough up $300 =\- for a new one. if the car runs the same disconect the injector #1 and if the car runs the same re-conect it and do this to all the other one's. if you unplug an injector and the car runs better then you have an injector that took a dump. I say injectors since you mentiond that you let the fule level drop.

test to see if you are misfiring by pulling the spark plug wires and replacing them one by one. every time you pull one, your engine should run even worse.

if your engine runs the same when you pull any of them out, that cylinder is not firing, and that means its not getting either fuel or spark or both.

good luck!

Great ghost of Salena!

Only two of the four where firing!

No wonder it sounded like a lawn-mower.

Tomorrow I will find out if it is the spark plugs or thefuel injectors.

Thanx!

#2 and 3 plug wires were crossed on the distributor.

Genius.
