ok so iv been saving up cuz iv had my heart set on buying an sr20 for my 93 s13 for awhile now, but just recently i got talking to a guy thats selling a rb20 block for $75 and the head for $300.

I really dont know anything about an RB20 do you think it would be worth it to buy it and what else am i going to need? it doesnt come with a transmission, and he wants extra for the flywheel and the altenator. and from what iv been reading ppl say they suck and are hard to find parts for. so basically would it be worth it to buy it or just save my money and buy an sr instead?

Thanks!

i love both, but IMO, i would go rb all day. it just really depends on you, i like my rb for its rarity and the fact that inline 6 is the shizznitz. the engine note is the best. of course there are many many more REAL reasons why i would go rb over sr but eh. good luck man.

This question gets asked alot, and Ill tell you that those parts are just the tip of the iceberg for cost. Do a search and see how much people are spending, its pretty expensive. The stuff thats missing will end up costing you quite a bit.

Stick with the SR man, honestly.

i agreee with both of them. sr just has endless amouts of resources for parts. to me, havin an Rb is kinda lik a luxury, because with an sr u can have just as much power and you'll most likely end up saving much more, with all the money i spent on my rb, i couldve had a 500whp sr for much less.

thanks guys. i love rb's don't get me wrong they're monsters haha. but i think im just gunna get a complete redtop instead of assembling an rb20 part by part. i just graduated high school and with how much parts are for an RB, it'll just sit in my garage till the time i get out of college haha. thanks again, i thought i found an amazing deal but it seems like it'll be more of a headache than what its worth.

i do have a question tho, just somehting i read when i was researching about an rb20. i forget what site it was on if i remembered i would put the link srry. but some guy was talking about taking an rb20 and boring it out to 86mm and putting in rb26 pistons. he said it's called an rb24. i'v never heard of that i thought it was interesting, have any of you guys ever heard or seen anything about someone doing that before. it was the first time im ever heard anyone refer to an rb24 before i was just wondering.

Thanks!

i havnt heard of a 24, but i can tell you it'd probably be cheaper just to put a stock 26 in it.

anyhow, i sometimes wish i had an SR. the car would be much more fun to drive IMO. im at 450 at the wheels right now, and its kind of scary sometimes. i wish i had less power, so i could drive more aggressively without worrying about the back end coming out. haha.
