99% of parts will be interchangable. Not sure what ones wont be. If one is active or has tcs and the other not, most won't work besides cosmetics and interior. I would choose the 1990 since it is the first production year. Oh, and i dont know how familiar you are with this site but have you stumbled across the timing chain guide writup at the top of the forum? and if so have you verified your guides are not plastic?

The front speaker amps and electrical harnesses in the 90Q (white connector) are not interchangeable with the front amps from the 91-93 (blue connector). Ditto for the Bose head unit. Front seat controls are different but will plug in and work fine. That's about it for the differences.

If your lookng for a DIY tutorial for the transmission removal do a SEARCH in this forum (Q45/Cima). Many have done it. Pretty straightforward except for the top bolt in the transmission which seems to give people trouble. You need about 2' of ratchet extensions.

Swapping the interior is easy but time consuming. Look at the BF (Body) section of the FSM for all the instructions and pics.

Sure, can get you over pix as soon as i get alittle farther along. Tooo much rain and not usable garage at the moment leads to a SLOOOOOW process.

I put i transmission my My first 91 and it wasnt bad other than me almost dieing. haha ugh

i had the q on my lift at school. Was using a transmission jack (the tall skinny things) and one of the wheels broke off the jack So the jack tipped over and the transmission fell into my arms. idk how but I caught it and was able to hold it for a sec or so... then i realised Holy crap this is HEAVEY!! and i was able to set it down with out hurting anything. But i almost lost my new/used transmission.

You can't transfer active suspension easily (Or at all really).

Mike I mean no disrespect at all but the 1990-1996 Q45 speakers and AMP's are interchangeable if really needed. I remember Brian (Maxnix) saying that 1990-1993 and 1994-1996 speakers were different because of the interiors. And what Bose did to enhance the sound system for each generation of G50 Q's. But if you take apart the speakers (Front and rear) you will see that the amps have the same plugs as well as the speakers (Obviously).

1990-1993 trans are all the same but each year the software changes to smooth out the transmission. In 1993 the biggest change occurred when they made it so the transmission would start in first gear and not second. 1994-1996 (1994-2001 share the same transmission just a different bell housing.) had 5% slower gears to make for a smother and longer lasting transmission.

I've owned two 90Q's. Head unit and front amps are not interchangeable from a 90Q to any other G50. The wiring harness to the front speakers is different also.

Be careful who you listen to, especially if they haven't owned both a 90-93Q and a 94-96Q.

The 1990 Q45 Bose system is unique in that it has a different non standard audio output level from head to amplifier than any 1991-2010 Bose system.

They used the higher line level to coverup inductive pickup from alternator and spark noise. They were able to revert back to standard levels in 1991 by using better shielding on wires.

This difference can be fixed with 4 suitable H pads to maintain impedence and correct [reduce] level going the other way will mean the 1990 amplifiers will be LOW from 1991-2010 heads. It cuts the peak loudeness by 75%

With an aftermarket head unit you can bypass the amps on each speaker and wire directly to the speaker. Most owners with aftermarket head units gut the speaker box and mount aftermarket speakers since the Bose speakers don't sound so good without their amps. I'm not sure about CD changer wiring.

Please post a new thread if you're asking about a different subject.

The best parts source is http://www.everythinginfiniti.com for OEM parts. P/S pump failure is pretty rare so you have a decent chance of getting a good used one - check out http://www.car-part.com if you want to try.
