I'd say get the a rear sway bar. Both of my 1995s are stable at speed. Would like a slightly higher spring rate, but not willing to drop. What happened to that thread, anyway?

I actually have one, but forgot to mention it. It's not that the 95 is unstable, (it's actually much better at speed than the vast majority of cars), but it's missing that "on a mission from god" feel on the highway at higher speeds that my 93 had. I've never driven a car that made 90-95 feel so much like 55-60. The 95 is similar, just not as good.

90-93 was unquestionably the "purer" car, no wood. No extras, a performance car, all function, Infiniti wanted to out BMW the competition, they targeted the 5 series. I remember Car and Driver writing in a comparison test in 1990 saying something along the lines of "the Q45 has the smoothest feeling interior of any car we have ever been in, we drove the car at night and with only the orange glow from the instrument panel, everywhere we moved our hands from the leather shifter to the controls above the leather armrest to the dashboard surfaces it felt as if all the parts of the interior were designed to feel identical in the dark. This is an amazing ergonomic experience." I have remembered that comment since 1990 when I read the article, and every time I drive at night I move my hands around in the interior and think about it, I know it sounds stupid but try it at night...all the materials, whether plastic or leather were designed to FEEL the same. If you think back to the dumb ads that killed the sales of this generation with the rocks and the trees and think about what they were really trying to do was build a perfect car esthetically and even from a touch the materials basis in the interior they hit a home run, unfortunately they did not market it correctly and had their buttwocks handed to them by Lexus.

1st. Gen. Q45 - I sometimes doubt if an automobile that good will ever come along again any time soon .If one is to study the japanese culture , having all details and actions in life perfectly in sync is the goal to strive for .The Q may have been an exercise in trying to get all the desireable attributes of the machine in harmony .

what really brought the looks of my 90Q around full circle was the new tires and the 99Q rims (oh, and the 5 star shine last weekend). literally like a different car. the taller tires and the pie pans do nothing for the first gen Q. can't tell you how many people have commented on how much better it looks with the upgrades. plan on doing performance upgrades before any more asthetics (tint, etc.). pictures will be coming very soon.jeff

I've have only been a Q45 owner for a few months but my 1994 active model with 4 recharged strut accumulators is both very, very comfortable and handles extremely well also due to the lack of roll provided by the active suspension. I think this is an amazing feeling sort of having your cake and eat it analogy

I have been a passenger but not driven a Mercedes 1998 S class and the ride was much more bumpy and I find it hard to believe that any car could be as comfortable as an active Q

Does anyone have an active model with all 9 accumulators recharged. I would like to know how it feels compared to just doing the 4 strut units as I have done so far

One thing you don't point out is that if you're doing a 90-93 Q you'd better either have a good cheap mechanic or be one hell of a good wrencher yourself. My dad's 92 that I had for 6 months was certainly fast, just ask the guy that I passed going 135mph in his S500, but it was one problem after another. The poor car is sitting dead now waiting for dad's divorce to be finalized so he can donate it to charity with broken chain guides....everyday it was a new gremlin that I was dealing with and not being a DIY'er it was hard, but you guys fixed half of them gremlins for me. I sometimes wished that I'd just kept it and had Deaedulus fix those guides brefore they went....

For Fred....

maybe this is a bit more accurate...if not a subtle change in descriptions:

90 Performance oriented Luxury car

94 Luxury oriented Performance car

The point I was trying to make is that first gens lean towards the performance side.... while gen 1a leans more towards the luxury side.
