Guys, I really need help on this one, I cannot figure out my problem. I have a 1993 S13 coupe. 5 speed (Original). the original motor and ECU had torgue butterflies and the swirl control valve. The motor I put in, was claimed to be from a 1993 hatch. And it does not have any of the butterflies or the SCV. I picked up another 1993 ECU to try, and it didn't do anything different.

My problem is, I have a significant loss of power/slight bogging from 900-2500rpm. My idle is fine most of the time, and can't really complain. The timing is completely way too high, like 25 degrees too high on the marks. It will not run worth a crap or even idle/stay running when I try to time it to specifications.

Do I need to find a s13 ECU that came from a DE motor without SCV? (My biggest lead)
Are my cams wrong?
Do i have a 95+ motor?
All of the above?

Everything else is fine. Tons and tons of parts are new.

Please please please help.
Thanks in advance.

Do you still have the old engine? Just swap the old intake manifold over on to the new one along with whatever else is needed.

Yes I do. I guess that would be a good idea, is there anyway to make sure my cams are correct? Cause according to stuff I read/researched, Nissan got rid of the SCV and butterflies in 95+? And changed the cams?

I think they just changed the lift/duration slightly. They'll be fine to run, although if it worries you that much you can swap your old ones in.

Checking the valve timing would be a good idea too, seeing as how your ignition timing is so far out of wack just to run (like it's compensating).

I did the timing chain correctly, and checked four times over, with a second pair of eyes, before I put it all together. That was back when I did a huge amount of maintenance on the engine before i put it in. I thought it was an ECU problem, cause my neighbor has a 89 hatch, that he put a rb20det in, and it would not take a time. He then swapped his ECU for a mindstune ECU, and it was able to be timed correctly.
