I suspect it would be temporary as I could see him pi$$ing off the rebel leaders by publishing their mistress' contact info on-line.

Not exactly a smart move in this job market unless you already have a new job to go to. Better be miserable and employed than happy and unemployed.

Somehow I bet the people who had to scramble to replace you found it less funny.

Also, acting like a douche and being humorous are not mutually exclusive.

Scramble?

If I tendered a two week notice they would have let me go immediately. It's how this company operates.

Does a company give you notice when they are going to fire you? No, they leave you scrambling.

Got it. Since companies do something that you feel is wrong, it's ok to do the same back to them. Toddler logic.

And, if a company was firing you and cracked jokes while doing so, would you find that funny? Or would it be a pretty douche move?

Don't get me wrong, you should do whatever you feel like and burn as many bridges as you want. I just find it amusing.

you are douche and you are also incorrect. no job is worth being miserable over and obviously this grown a** man knew what he was doing when he did it and he was kind enough to share it with all of us. jesus christ do you have a sense of humor?

Socal-S13, calm down. You're taking this thread somewhere that it doesn't need to go.

It was a pretty hilarious way to quit, though a bit inconsiderate like AppleBonker said. It would make more sense to me if the place was sucking the life out of you and treating you wrong, but it seems like you had good employers (from what you said in the first paragraph.)

What Chaotic_Warlord said also makes sense, but you said you already had another job lined up. Still, its never really a good idea to burn bridges like that. You never know when you'll need a specific contact.

I start a new job Monday morning.

It wasn't disrespectful at all. It was immature and hilarious!

It was kinda funny, I mean cmon...pirates...that's funny. Any hostility towards you probably stems from other threads where you act like a toolbag.

I don't think you understand what out of context means. We have no idea what you went through to warrant such a tactic, nor do we know how the business operates there, therefore we have no context in which to judge the situation.

But you really did open yourself up to being called a moron with that letter. Have fun ever being considered a professional with that being posted on the internet.

So-Cal, I do have a sense of humor, please note that I never said it wasnt funny. But having been laid off 3 times in the last 4 years and currently being laid off for the last 6 months I stand by my post 100%. I have applied for close to 100 jobs and have only gotten 3 interviews, all of which were followed by "we have decided to go with someone else". Take note that I only apply for jobs that I am more than qualified for and my degree plus 6 years experience and stellar references I still get passed up bc there's about 25,000 other service techs looking for the same jobs I am.

Don't pass judgement on me, you don't know me or my situation. The current state of the job market is very much noncondusive to just up and quitting a job bc you dont like it anymore. PMQ had a job lined up and while not giving 2weeks notice and further torching the bridge with that email wasn't exactly the smartest move he wont be able to use them as a reference in the future.

My usual advice to people who quit their jobs: don't burn bridges. It is simply not necessary!

You never know when you might need a reference later in life ... if this letter was sent to someone who appreciated the "joke", that is one thing. But if it went to anybody without a sense of humor, or left them in the lurch, you know this is going to bite you later in life.

If a potential employer sees unprofessional behavior in the past or gets poor references from previous employers, let me assure you that (a) you may not get the job, and (b) will never be given a position of any responsibility or significance.

And just where do you think high-paying jobs come from?

Think, PMQ, think! No matter how difficult that may be ... :tisk:

Eek, that's a rough situation to be in.

You mentioned service tech, what field?

if you don't mind me asking, what attire are you wearing to the interviews?

Ah, I missed this. :tisk:

And what if someone from that list gets sufficiently PO'ed that they contact your new company and let them know how happy they are now that you quit and took your immature childish behavior with you?

Gee ... I wonder how long you last at your new position? :ohno:

That was very fun to read. Reminds me of my first job when I worked at a grocery store and I told my boss to f*** off when she told me that I wasn't allowed to wear a hat when I was pushing carts outside while it was 28 degrees and snowing out. Never showed up for work again, and surprisingly enough they kept calling me for like 2 weeks after the whole ordeal telling me that I was scheduled to work and I just told them they had the wrong number.
