So I work at a Nissan Dealership on the weekends for a second job doing various stuff and they said I could use the shop for my swap. So I took the day off yesterday to put my RB20 in.
The awesome thing about doin it at the dealership was having inground lifts with an airpowered engine platform and air tools
I snapped a few shots.
My car up on the lift getting the crossmember, swaybars, power brace removed. The sticker on the side just appeared on my car one night and I havent bothered taking it off because I'm painting my car soon enough...
Air powered engine lift had no problems lifting the motor up, it's truely an amazing day when you don't even have to crouch, kneel, bend over or strain yourself in any way when you swap a motor in .
I used a custom crossmember/mount kit from the guy who sold me the motor. I haven't driven the setup but I cant see anyway my motor could be positioned better without firewall modification. Stock clutch fan will clear the radiator as well if I cared to go that route. But Flexalite fans are offering me a killer deal on a 2 puller setup that I'll be going with.
Another essential picture for the RB owners is the height picture, I cant see anyway to go lower without a different oil pan setup. I'm just praying its low enough for the way I want to route my intercooler piping, I'm using 2.5 inch piping so it should clear like the other guys setup, but only time will tell eh?
Overall the swap went well, didnt run into any problems. I'm going to do the wiring harness this week, hopefully it will be as easy as it looks to be. Also goin to make a power steering hardline loop for now. Then I'll be towing it over to my other shop to grind the turbo elbow down, make a custom downpipe, charge piping and throw my wiring harness on. If everything goes as planned, we're looking at T-minus 1 week to start up
