So I'm offically Q'ed! It's the same one I posted about a couple months back. Had an independant tech (former Infiniti) go thru it and give me the green light.

I've got a couple questions:

I need the control unit (display) for the optional 10 disk Sony CD changer. The changer itself is good....the former display was apparently introduced to a large diet Coke! :rolleyes

My build date is 9/92....I am planning on pulling the cover to check the guides....unless that date makes me safe. I have read on here that new guide parts were intro'd on 7/92.

transmission will be flushed (following NICO prcedures) and get new Amsoil synth. fliud.

I'd like to jump up to 17" rims and tires....but other items come first.

Sunroof sticks a little on open and close....however there are NO LEAKS! :)

Tech said A/C needs a recharge....not a big deal.

Several of the ligts for illuminating controls (A/C, radio, window buttons) are inop...need to replace those.

All in all it's just little maint. items that need to be addressed. I'm very happy with my 2k investment.

Yes 2k.....I was a little scared at first...but the tech said he'd buy it for more $ than that. I've got a fairly acurate maint. history for 90% of it's life, so I'm not too worried.

I bought it for two reasons. #1 fun to drive. #2 Q's have a terrible resale value....so I knew I could get alot of car for little money.

Besides if it pukes a transmission or an engine I'm not out alot of $$. I do not think it will, but you never know.

I think you are looking at the car the correct way....enjoy it...put a few bucks into it..

I'd put the 17" wheels further down on the list.... your biggest bang for the buck will probably come in the form of upper links, struts, and tension bars...

Grease the sunroof now...grease it heavy...it may save it from Q sunroof terminal death.... to expensive to fix...

Good luck...

This is where you might earmark some money for a flush and dryer replacement. Intact systems do not leak.

Sounds like a great buy. Expecially if the timing chain guides are already updated.

You gotta deal on that 93Q. Sounds like the 93 I just sold for $5000!. I sold it, however, because of timing chain guide scare. I understand the plastic guides were used thru 1st few produced 94Qs! Check front cover...if seal still blue then guides not changed!

Original factory sealant is a light blue color....from what I've heard here @ NICO.

Dude! You have almost the same "problems" as me...

My sunroof does the same, stop, then I have to reverse and push it forward. And yes, no leaks. My AC lights also dont work. Maby its because were both 93ers, lol...

But yea, good buy!

Sunroof is a typical issue in first gen's....

So are the A/C display lights.... that's a 100 dollar fix Jerry Tucker in San Diego...

Sunroof is much more complicated and expensive

A/C display works just fine....it's all the indivdual buttons that don't light up at night. (windows, radio, A/C,...etc.)

If every one of them is out, I'd suspect the dimmer switch or something else. Q1 still has lot's of her factory light bulbs - I'd say it's very unlikely for all of them to be dead.

Hmmm....Good call Heath. I'll need to verify just which ones. I do know for sure ALL radio buttons, All A/C buttons (not display), and it seems ALL door switches. Dimmer switch on dash seems to function properly....

Concrats on your new Q. I also have a 93 that I bought for 3 grand from a good friend. I was told by Joe that my timing guide should not be an issue as my production date was towards the end of 93. However I have not confirmed that with an actual teardown and visual inspection. As for the a/c light going out, check on ebay from time to time. Sometimes you can find the whole working display for under a hundred dollars.

I have a 94 and i think there are 3 buttons on the HVAC that dont work. I dont care, because i use auto all the time anyway, that is if the sunroof and windows arent open......
