I owned 3 new EX's this year!

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Some may call me a freak, but be nice. My Infiniti dealer should consider me a MVP, but for all of you EX owners out there, I am here to say the EX has the best resale value of any car I have ever owned (and I have owned a few). The itch started last year (2009), after driving Toyota Sienna's for 9 years, I needed a change, I could no longer keep 2 cars for myself and the Porsche Boxter, was just not practical for seasonal driving. I wanted a change, but I still wanted the performance of a sports car with practical all season driving, Milwaukee can be snowy.

In May 2009 I purchase a 2008 EX35 AWD Journey Base model for $27,500 brand new (and yes this took some negiotiation). I loved my car, but I missed the simple things I had in my other cars and was too cheap to pay for in such a small car (heated seats, Nav, heated mirrors, IPOD, etc)

In August 2009 Carmax had offered me $29,000 cash for my 08 EX (wow more than I PAID!), I took thier offer back to my Infiniti dealer and for $4200 additional (out the door)I had a BRAND NEW! 2009 EX 35 Journey AWD with Nav, around view, roof rack and other goodies.

After this Xmas and 4200 miles later, the oil change light came on, I read about the cool new GPS on the 2010 and just for the heck of it, I had a freind (yes, the sales mgr at Toyota who I previously purchased many cars from), he pulled the auction report on 09 EX's, and it appeared mine was still worth over $31,000.

SO, New Years Eve at 5pm, avoiding calls from the wife wondering where I was and if I was ever going to show up at our freinds dinner starting soon, I found myself back at Infiniti sharpening pencils. By close we shook hands and I forked out a additional $3250 for yet again, a BRAND NEW 2010 EX35 AWD Journey with Nav and around veiw, and yes this is the best one to date.

So it boils down to this,I drove 2 brand new cars, accumulated approx 8,000 miles, a few door dings and then, closed the year with a Brand NEW, current model 2010 EX AWD Journey for a total expenditure for the year of :$27,500 (08, EX) + 4,200 (09, EX) + 3,250 (2010,EX) = $34,950 Try that BMW!

I will post the auction report finding in another thread.

Interesting, for the math to work I assume that you have no sales tax and registration fees where you live?

Yeah, in San Francisco, that would be about $12K for three EXs.
