Which im sure you are aware of, and had to say it so that the post was able to be in the CA forum.

I just really wanted boost_boys opinion instead of the bunch of a$$ in the other forums.

My drivers rear lower brake bolt, i ripped the head off of it a few minutes ago trying to replace the brakes. I was able to pivot the caliper in order to take out the old and put the new brakes in. I can not get the caliper off though to try and drill out the old rest of the bolt, but since its tight in there and wont come off at all anyways, I just tightened the top bolt and its just as sturdy as with both.

My question is, what should I do???

Can I leave it as is since I cant even get it off my self, so I doubt it will fall off or anything, since it has both bolts through it and is really tight, I just have to pivot to change brakes?

This is a good time to do a 300zx upgrade, but dont have the money. And cant even get it off.

Any suggestions?

Also, I was sitting in the parking lot with the radio only on, and i shifted it in to 3rd and the transmission made a springy sounding pinnnnggg.

ideas?

I hate busting bolts. I would have thought that caliper bolts would have been high tensile, and you wouldn't have been able to break them, maybe yours were replaced with wrong grade ones during the last pad change?

Looks like you might need to remove the whole strut and caliper, so that you can attack this busted bolt. I expect you'll have to rebleed the brakes to do this. Not many people do, but brake fluid should be replaced every year or two.

Caliper bolts are put under a lot of stress and heat cycles. As we know the caliper won't fall off, I guess the worst thing that could happen is you could get a shudder in that brake if the good bolt were to loosen.

I'd replace it. Most people have enough things to worry about in life. Crashing into someone because your brakes aren't at 100% is a bit of a risk, especially if your car got impounded after an accident and they found this problem.. Fast and the Furious gives the import scene a bad name with authorities, no need to live up to the expectation.

Yeah, not sure when I will be able to though D : its the only form of transportation as of now, and I have to take my son to the baby sitters and my g/f to work every morning, and I have an interview tuesday for a new job.

So hopefully it holds up till I get a check or 2 and can get a 2nd car.

Lastly, When I left off the gas at higher rpms like 3.5-4 as it engine brakes i hear what sounds like a scraping? kinda, i guess? hard to describe the noise, sorta how brakes sound when they get to warn out, but from the transmission only when I left off the gas.
