I OWN A 2006 ALTIMA 2.5S AND MY AC COMPRESSOR WONT COME ON! NEED HELP PLZ!

MY AC COMPRESSOR WONT COME ON I NEED HELP TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHATS WRONG. DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME 2000.00 TO REPLACE MY WHOLE AC SYSTEM. I NEED HELP PLZ

well, sounds like they want to rip you off unless it is more complicated then the compressor. if your a/c compressor wont work then its either the compressor or the compressor clutch is no good. you can tell if the compressor clutch is good if you run the engine and listen for the compressor to make a clicking sound every now and then, it does that to cycle the a/c system. if it does it might be a bad compressor or you possibly have a leak in the system and all your refridgerent bled out resulting in no cold air comming out. FYI you should post this in the drivetrain,engine section as this section is not ment for this type of question. thats what i think anyway. good luck. and if in doubt get a second opinion from a different dealership or shop.
