I go to try to set the timing on my SR. She has been sitting in the garage for a while being neglected as there are always other things in life to take care of. I fire her up to let her warm up to operating temperature and low and behold she is running on three cylinders. Here is where it is a little weird. I figure out it is cylinder #4. When I unplug the injector the idle doesn't change. So I put my noid light in the plug and it is lighting up. Ok so I have power to the injector. I can smell the unburnt fuel coming from the exhaust so I know the injector is working. I changed out the coil. I have an extra complete motor that has a spun bearing. Twice. Still the same issue. However, when I lift the coil off of the plug about 3/4 of an inch it arcs to the plug and idles fine. If I try to reseat the coil on the plug it idles like crap. I even switched the coil harnesses out and still the same issue. I switched coils from a running cylinder and still the same issue. If I hold the coil up off the plug it idles fine. Has this happened to anybody before? I don't get it. It runs fine if I don't actually put the coil on the plug. Anybody? Thanks,

BoZ

pull the number four injecotr, i bet you injector O Rings are leaking, which is dumping fuel ( causing unburnt gas smell) and making your car a subbie
