does anyone know where i can go to by an oil pump to pump mineral oil through my computer?

i'm planning on sealing off my computer take off all the fans and fill it with mineral oil to cool everything. the only thing i'm missing is a good pump. those water cooling pumps are too weak for the viscosity of the oil.

you guys might think its crazy but mineral oil does not conduct electricity. . . at all. and oil dispearses heat a heck of a lot better than air (non 100% water cooled cars)

but i dont know where to start looking to pump oil. i'm going to need something that pumps around. . . 500 gallons per hour

any ideas?

that could happen but i happen to have extra boards laying around to at least test. maybe stick a giant heat sink on it. . .

LOL - 500 gph? You can use a Little Giant pool pump (sold in pool / spa stores), some aquarium shops have 'em.

I can't believe I'm responding to such a ridiculous question... Unless you have a bad-arse computer, what the hell is wrong with using some fans like everyone else?

maybe he's overclocking...but then that would fall into the bad-arse category.

So...you're going to fill the *entire* case with mineral oil? Surely I'm misunderstanding you here...

Speak for yourself buddy... Ive been running water for over 3 years now :) Started on the first thunderbird core, the good ald slot-a 650 tbird :)

Oil is really a bigger hassle then its worth... Make your own phase change system if you are [H]ard enough... Should suffice with the proper anti condensation measures of course.

no...thats what I got from it too. I hope its a misunderstanding cuz last time I checked, electricity doesn't respond to well to liquids.

Socket A Duron o/ced to 1333 beotch. I'm going water cooled to get it up past that. (I'm running it with just the original fan/heatsink combo on an open case).

Mineral oil doesnt conduct electricity, and is used for sub zero temps, so that condensation wont form and the likes.

Oh heres my simple water cooling case (I was the first to put a base on my mid tower to house the WC stuff, and got recognized for it in a few peoples install pages... :) ) http://home.cfl.rr.com/s14racer/

Im running a meager 1.4 tbird at around 1.6 at 155 fsb... Not too shabby for this core week and sdram.

ive seen this done, but not with mineral oil, they used some product from 3M that costs like 1000$ per gallon (they had a grant or somthing) but it did work.. they had it pumped thur tubes that were submersed in liquid nitrogen, the only problem they had is after a few mins the product turned to a gel from the cold-ness of the liquid nitrogen.. so.. its not cost efective.. how about a watercooling/pelter (sp?) set up? the peltier will cool the processor down to about -20ºC i think that will do good for overclocking :)

In some cases the peltier has stopped working and actually fried the processor...not good.

The G5...god...if I had the money my next computer would be a dual G5 setup.

Watercooling with a solid copper block is the way to go. Solid copper may be an expensive heatsink, but it does its job well. That and a good pump.

There was a case not too long ago that cooled the entire computer down to 0 degrees C. I'm pretty sure they discontinued it though (its how they got the P3 to break 1ghz before the official 1g's came out).
