Ok, so I've been looking for a 240 for some time now, and I haven't come across many that fit my criteria. But I was looking at Craigs List, and found a beauty. 91 240sx coupe, gunmetal in color, a few extras, and only 80,000 miles! But the guy wants waaaay too much for it: $6,000. Sooo....

What would you guys offer for it? He's not in a rush to sell it, and isn't looking for low-ballers. I can spend up to about $5,500 on a car, but I highly doubt this one is even worth that much. Any opinions?

Here's the website: http://www.craigslist.org/sby/car/35752300.html

:help Thx...

edit: Bluebook is only $2,995 (assuming "excellent" condition)

6 grand is too much for a 91.

The best you can do is offer what you consider fair I guess, but 5500 isn't low-balling, at least I dont think so. He isn't in a rush to sell it because he probably wont be able to sell it for a while at that price.

240s have a pretty good resell value. But NOT $6000 unless it has huge mods. I wouldn't pay more than 2 or 3k for a stock '91, add extras to that. The guy probably knows he can get quite a bit and is waiting for a reasonable offer. I doubt he could seriously think he could get 6k.

NO NO NO, wow. 6k for a s13 with bolt ons. You can get 96 SE for that much man, keep looking. Ive seen cars with SR's for that much. High ballers are worse then low ballers, he really isnt looking to sell

Oh, I know quite well the car isn't worth 6k, I'm just trying to get an idea of what a good offer would be. I sent him an email, asking if he would consider selling the car ofr cheaper, without the sound system, Ractive muffler (crap), Redline accesory lights (crap), and other aftermarket stuff. I figured without all that stuff, a price of $3,800 to $4,250 would be decent. Thoughts?

Still too much. I wouldn't pay more than $3000 for a stock S13. For $5500 you can get a VERY nice zenki s14 (mine was $4000 in SoCal)

Here's a $6000 s13 with an SR20... why would you pay the same for a stock one?http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp....st=76

Oh, and here's a 96 SE for $4500... auto, but still a better deal with 100k mileshttp://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp....st=48

All good points. So, maybe closer to $3,000? I really want a S13 coupe, and am willing to "splurge" a bit more than I would normally spend...

2-3000 for an s133-6000 for a 95-966-9000 for a 97-98

again this is very vague. i paid 500 for my 93 coupe base so i dunno what to say :D

I still think $3,950 would be resonable with all the silly things that's done to the car. Plus, 80k miles? And if I do get the car with all the stuff that's on it, I'll could (and would) sell it all to recoup the difference...

Oh, and found this beauty too: http://www.craigslist.org/pen/car/35720908.html What would be a good offer for this one? Here's the Car Domain site http://www.cardomain.com/id/samgreen ...

Haha yeah, pretty vague I got my 97 for 4400. but from what I see from what I've researched before I got the car, the S14's had insane prices in my area (8K for one in "okay" condition) and 9-10 for a damn 97 and 97

i have checked out that car and test drove it.. well i didn't like it. he is running on dropzone springs (ebay) on stock shocks, interior is kinda dirty, and a gt-r sticker on the back.

whats good about the car is.. its a 91 so it has good cams, its a coupe :), and it has abs.

if you can talk him down or part some stuff out and pay a lower price, go for it. gl on finding your 240

So you drove the car? Well, from talking with him, what kinda price would you suggest? And as for the crappy springs, I would replace them with Tein S-Tech springs shortly after purchase. How was the engine?

Ok, I got an reply back from him via email, and he said "I may consider removing sound system and rims/tires for $5000 but I want to sell the car as is." But he's still an idiot for asking that much.

Oh, and he is also the original owner and bought the car new in 1991...

Is that what you offered him? And was there anything mechanically wrong with the car? I know that Dropzone isn't the best brand of springs, and replacing them without new shocks is foolish. But like I said before, I'll be replacing them with a Tein S-Tech / KYB AGX spring and strut combo...

Man, this guy won't budge from $5000. He says he even already got an offer for $5,700, but somehow I doubt it.

Oh, and in the classifieds, there's a 95 240sx SE 5spd, with only 60k miles, and they want $6,200. Not bad! I figured I could wring that price down...
