I Need Your Help Guys...

Ok I have no idea what is wrong with my car, people tell me that its my alternator thats messed up. Let me begin, I was driving my car when suddenly it died on me, the revs started to fade little by little until finally it stopped. I turned it back on and started driving, I wasnt able to get to 2nd gear when it started dying on me in the middle of the intersection. It started going vroom vroom vroom, like it was forcing it self then it died. Now i cant even turn the car on, and whats funny is that the last time i tried it made a cicking sound and movement on the right side of the engine (around sparkplugs). Even the guy that towed me said it sounds like the alternator. Or can it be a chip? I have a 90 240sx. Help please, i need this fixed by today. And also i hardly know anything about mechanics, so can someone please tell me where the alternator is? Thanx.

yeah dude, it sounds like an alternator, it is on the left side of the engine, and has a bunch of wires coming out of it. if you need the car fixed fast, then i would suggest having someone else do it if you dont know how

Isn' the alternator only 4 bolts though? think they're 14mm if i remeber right. Replaced my 5months ago. right after my starter and befor emy water pump and before my fan clutch. Love how everything happens at once. Well at least don't have to worry anymore.

You can get it tested for free at autozone, napa They do here in florida anyways. And they had mine in stock. Takes like 15minutes if I remember right.

Thanx guys, I changed the alternator yesterday with my friend who drove 1 1/2 hours to where i was at. Now she runs great, but i still nee to change the fan clutch and the cap and rotor. appreciate everything. I think im gonna end up selling it to get a s13 silvia already converted and red top sr20. Any takers? :ylsuper

??? What do you mean a silvia already converted? You mean get a coupe and put a redtop in it? Im not trying to sound like an *** but I actualy know a guy with an imported silvia running around and its just bad ***.

Yeah! my friend knows this mechanic who bought an s13 silvia front clip and swapped it in a 240sx coupe, he originally was building it for pleassure, but decided to sell it. Im actually waiting to see if he hasnt sold it. Hopefully not.
