well its been one of those weeks!!!well here is the problem car started smokeing 2 days ago nice blue smoke. heavy on start up dies down a little but is still there pretty bad. when it warms up seems to get little better

i did a timing chain on it and i kinda folded the head gasket a little but i fixed it somewhat and the car has been about 1k miles since then, but the car also got really hot this summer and i mean like gauge pinned. i did a compression test today and here are the numbers#1 130#2 138#3 148#4 144

now would you consider it a head gasket or rings? im really hopeing for just a head due to beign on tight budget. i hope i did the compression testing right. let car worm up remove wires and plugs. started at 1 and left it turn over 5 times for each cyl.any imput much needed so i can start tearing it apart tomarrow and get parts.

you did go WOT while doin the test right?

eitherway pour a some oil in there and check again ,if it reads higher compression its your rings that are worn/broken, if it still reads low, then its most likely a headgasket/warped head.

About a tablespoon of oil.

I had a big problem blowing head gaskets after i rebuilt my motor with high compression. Turns out the OE head bolts werent holding properly, so i replaced them with some ARP studs. Havent blown a gasket since (2 years this august). Plus it sounds like the gasket just failed, esp if you folded it.

Well i said screw it last night and started pluuing the head. pulled the valve cover today and right over number 1 on the cover it was milky white on cover... i got the head pulled out and the head gasket itself didnt look to bad no tears or splits that ive seen. was little anti freeze in number 1 but not very much. but the thing that kinda took me off guard was there was about a teasopoon or maybe 2 of oil in each cyl. besides number 1.

Possibly the head gasket didnt seat right because of it being folded at one point and allowed oil to seep thru into the cylinders. Hopefully thats all.

Did you torque it down correctly? 3-step torque down, loosen all the way, and three step torque again.
