ok guys. just to get some of this out of the way. im sure there is plenty of you out there that would rather use extra money to do a motor swap, suspension, ect. but i really want to convert my 1993 240sx to a right hand drive. im willing to spend money on it but i dont know how much. so my 2 questions would be; wut is a ball park estimate for $ on a RHD conversion, and how hard is it to do. i would rather take it in and have it done. wut do yall think.

snake240 is right, a shop is going to rape you on labor costs. Plus parts. Not as expensive as actually importing a silvia, but still gone run you a grip. Your best option would be to find a guide/writeup on how to do it, then if you feel you cant do it, find someone you trust who can help you with it.

Yeah, they're pretty much going to cut your car in half and weld the front of a RHD on there.

i would never pay for someone to do it. the labor hours is just too much. its actually not that hard to do the conversion... just takes up a LOT of time and takes a LOT of patience. ive got a buddy up here who did his whole RHD himself.

be like him and purchase a whole front clip. then u get the SR20, Silvia conversion and the RHD conversion.

Well...

Tell you the truth it wouldn't be as hard as everyone is stating. Reason being is that you just need to cut and drill of few things to make it all work. Best bet is to do this. Find a place that imports the clips. Ask them if you could work a deal with them to just buy everything but the engine stuff. Then use the parts in the clip and transfer it on over. If you are wanting to do a SR swap, just buy the clip with the engine and knock two birds out with one stone. It really isn't as hard as people are making it out to be. Oh, and if you pay someone to weld the a front end on, you're doing it wrong.

A guy over in Az did this. More or less. Go to Az240sx.org and look around for DRD or d!ck.

And thats the wrong way to do it. What you do is cut the firewall out and weld the rhd firewall in, then do whats needed for everything else. If you cut a car in half its never going to be right again. Firewall swapping is 100% easier and safer to do.

yeah, just replace the firewall. and its easier if u get a clip because as you take stuff out, you know where and how it should fit. also you should get the rhd heater core, steering rack, wiring harness, blower motor, dash, complete jdm climate control ect, ect.

its really not difficult, just takes a lot of time to take everything out, then put everything back in. but like i said. clip is the only way to go imo

You can find RHD half cuts with a SR in it for about $4k. Im just saying you can kill two birds with one stone.

Why not just sell that car and import a JDM 180sx/Silvia, providing that your local legislations allow it. It'll be 100 times less hassle, with an SR already in, and a mint chassis with way less mileage on it. Costs wise, unless your car's a beater, a JDM car should be in the same ballpark as the value of your car + a front clip anyways.

Uh, where you are, find a specialist importer. There's a ton of them where I am, but that's Canada.

do it! the people that are talking about cutting the firewall out and swapping a jdm s(whatever) firewall are correct!!!! I've seen a few done. i have a S14 front clip with everything you need to do it with... firewall, steering components, A/C controls(digital), dash ect. i was going to do it also, but just never got around to it. I'll sell you every thing SUPER cheap...I'm in NC. Just let me know if your interested.
