Hey wise racers from this message board I have a problem.......I have a project to do and I was planing on doing it on a 510. Now im not an expert on cars..yet so i need your help. this guy has a '69 Datsun 510 and he is asking for 1000, but the problem is, is that it has no motor.

He has a a motor for it but i bet he is going to charge me extra for that motor, this is what the guy wrote, "It is a 1986 2.4 nissan pathfinder with mikuni dual carbs brand new clutch and chrome doug thorley header ready to drop in." So here are the pics he sent me and tell me wat you think.........is it a good deal?? and if i should buy it, do i buy the motor or do i get a different one??

1K is too much for just a body... tell him $1200 with that motor installed and running... otherwise, buy a running dime with a stock L18 and just drive it everyday until you save up enough for a SR20DET swap (about 6 to 8 grand for a shop like Mckinney to do)...

hope this helps...

no... a better motor in my mind to swap is a ka24de... it bolts right in and the only major mod is reversing the rngine crossmember... you can use the stock 240SX trans crossmember by redrilling new holes and using grade a strength bolts... it is a cost effective swap and less than what you will spend for a motor that you are taking somebody's word for that was supposedly rebuilt rght... a KA24DE complete with trans, harness, ecu will run between $200 from the local pick-n-pull to $500 friom a private owner that just crashed their 240SX... the exhaust manifold from a 1992 240SX, KA24DE will clear the steering box no problem...

if you have the money, go for the SR swap... if not, go get a low mileage KA24DE and go to town...

Man thanx a lot, but now he is saying he will sell me the car for 2,300 wit the motor, plus a rollcage and an extra tranny, and other goodies.......wat do you think, also the interior is ****, no steering wheel, no radio or speakers, and no back seat.......i dont need a rollcage or an extra tranny, also he doesn't state wether he would install the motor or JUST include it.

His excuse is that the year 69 is a hrad car to find, and that the motor he has "will" crank out about 170 hp.......wat you think??

just grab a rolling chasis and install a KA24DE with 80 shot NOS... my friend spanks mustangs all day with this bare setup!!!he paid $200 bucks for the car and less than $600 for the swap including the motor... he did the swap himself... it's pretty simple really... all in all, it is a better deal than what this guy claims to be a built motor... it's not even in the car and running! it's a risk in my opinion... or, just buy a running stock dime for a few hundred bux and roll...
