im looking into getting turbos for my 1991 na fairlady but im not sure how to go about doing that without spending a ridiculous amount of money. a friend of mine says its best to gather everything seperately but another friend says the opposite and its better to get an aftermarket kit. which is truly a better idea!?

the great thing abotu a kit is that all the figuring out whats you need is done gfor you, when your pushing more air you need more fuel to match, this couls include a Chip, auxiliary fuel pump or even larger fuel injectors and a fuel controller, if you do all the research you can likely save a few bucks buying the componenets you want from different source, the problem is that some of that savings will be eaten up with additional shipping charges and you have a greater risk of one of your suppliers being backordered or some other delay or even fraud, so any money you save, your gonna work for!

if your car is an NA....pick up a TT front clip and do the swap then go from there. You will go broke turboing and building up an NA motor

Front clip is the most hassle free way, however if you want to buy and piece together something over time you can do what I am doing with a bit more frustration.

If you want a better than stock motor you may want to build it up, if you want a base TT and build on to it down the line get a clip or full swap package

I'm beginning to throw around the idea of adding TT things to an NA and a shop just putting in TT internals for about 2k.

Front clip is literally the entire front engine body of the car, the engine bay complete with engine and usually trans. Usually JDM, Japanese domestic. BTW it does not matter what side drive the wheel is on.

just buy a motorset which includes, motor, trans, ecu, wiring harness. Then man up and make your own piping and front mount. Side mounts are over rated. (and yes, we did our homework)

Well you have to think the power to fun to dollar ratios in a 300zx are the cheapest around. The fact is it still costs more money to have that higher standard than your average car that no one cares about.

You need to evaluate what you are willing to do and how much you are going to enjoy the car and what it is worth to you personally.

thats true, the last thing id want to do is cheap out on my turbos and end up with ****ty equipment, i dont know about a complete front clip tho that seems like a ridiculous amount of money and work, i found a shop near me that has a jdm vg30dett with about 32k miles they are willing to drop in my car for 1400, that sounds good to me, prob. is i gotta gather my intercooler, boost controller, blow off valve, turbo timer, gauges and all that shiz before i can do the swap. so im looking at about 2k for everything, ima have to start a hustle on the side to get this money
