Bose speakers won't work. You will need to replace them.

Look for a Metra kit to use a Din radio. I have also seen people use the factory trim plate from a '02-03 Maxima that had factory navigation (tho Nissan kinda overcharges for it)

the bose speakers will work you will just have to hard wire them, if you dont have a good amount of experience with car audio i would suggest having it done by a professional so you dont fry anything.

Bose mids are 1ohm speakers. This is too low for a headunit and, while possibly working for a bit, will result in the HU outputs failing.

If your headunit has RCA outputs, you can cut up some RCA cables and wire those to the speakers. Did that on my Z until I could get some speakers and it works great. You should be able to do that too if they kept the overall design the same (pre-amp headunit, individually amped speakers).

The speakers in the 00+ Maxima are not amplified. The amp is under the back deck.

Older Maximas had the amps directly on the speaker themselves. The 5th-gen model actually has a dedicated 5-channel amp that is under the back deck.

Trust me, I've done a stereo install in my car and another members '00 Maxima

if they truly are running at 1ohm then it would make more sense to get new speakers or rerun the speaker wire to a new 4 channel amp that can handle one ohm. i would check to make sure they really are 1 ohm though. 1 ohm is usually used when you have a really good amp with a really good system, and the bose are mediocre in my opinion.

Bose has consistently used 1ohm speakers throughout Maxima history. The only speakers that are not specifically 1ohm are the tweeters which are 4ohm. I have put a meter on my mids and they showed 1.4-1.6 ohm.

Do they run separate wires for the speakers straight to the amp? If so, you might still be able to do the RCA cable thing. Freakin' Blose... err, Bose.

Not really. 1 pair run up to the front seperates. Guess you could do the RCA "thing" at the radio itself and tap into the factory harness going to the factory amp. Might inject noise into the system tho.

5th-gen radio wiring diagrams are listed on http://www.maximaclub.org
