I have a 92 240 hatch, and i currently hate the way the car sits. That fender gap is insane Anyways i was just recently planning on just doing some tein s techs, and then i realized: the drop is no where sufficient enough to satisfy my lowering needs (1.5 front, 1.2 rear ), they will in time destroy my struts, and i just recently took my car to the track and experimented with drifting. I am definitly going to visit the track more often and get better. After reading countless times how suspension is the most important mod i realize that i have have way better handleing with some good coilovers than some springs. I WILL be getting coilovers in a few weeks. Now tell me is this going to be a good investment, or should i just get the teins and an exhaust system or something. I searched many times on this topic before making this conclusion, but it would be great to hear some final arguments. Springs with stock struts and an exhaust system, or GOOD coilovers, probably Teins. Thanks!

If ur in the Drift scene, jus get sum coilovers if u can afford Tein get them. Don't do any engine mods u wont need it yet. Find an LSD or get it welded, spend money on used tires (new if u can afford them), sum other suspension mods (dont forget the bushings) and drift days.

First off, if you want suspension advice you should post it in the suspension forum. But since i'm here I'll help a little.

Coilovers are a good place to start, but when you lower your car, it will gain camber. This gain in camber will cause a gain in toe. Camber is your friend (to an extent), but toe that is out of factory specs will cause tires to wear quickly.

When you lower your car ensure you take it to get an alignment imediately. Doing this will not only save you money, but it will also give you a base alignment to start with allowing you to change settings in your alignment at a later date to suit your driving style and so on.

If your car cannot be aligned close factory specs, there are two things you can do.

1) raise the car up, reducing some of the camber and toe gained by dropping it

or

2) Install rear upper camber arms and rear toe links to allow more adjustablility at an extremely low ride height

I may have missed some stuff so be sure to read in the suspension forum and search the rest of the internet so that you can make a more educated decision. Plus, the more you know about something the more likely you are to be able to diagnose what it is doing

Moved.

While Teins aren't what most people would consider "good" coilovers, they're atleast better than the Megan/Ksport/D2 stuff. KTS, Stance, and Endura-Tech (haven't ridden on these personally but more than one person i trust has given them the thumbs up) are all good budget coils, averaging around $1200 I think.

If you're going to be tracking your car often and don't mind the ride, coilovers are definitely the way to go. Your next mods should be an LSD and quality RUCA's, Tension rods and probably Tie rods. Subframe spacers would also be a good, cheap investment.
