hi guys, just chasing some modeling detail for the vh45, jdm spec. mainly the port spacing and flange of the intake tracts to come up with a tuned length runner and decent length hopefully tuned to one of the heimholtz multiples.

something similar to the vk56 and ls'x' type which will also be reltively compact for bonnet clearance issues to, using stock throttlel body & iacc etc.

let me know what format you could supply if possible email is listed in profile, (i think) if not post up what you can offer and ill try get cracking, wiht my huge amounts 'spare time' (lots of sarcasm here guys.)

cheers in advance.nat0

Hey Mate,I remember your car/posts from the z garage.Are you dumping a vh45 in your 240z?

How are you going to get past the capacity rules in SA?IIRC for swaps it is (for NA) 4x(car weight in kg) = cc of swappable engine.

Hence why I purchased the VH41 for my 260z.

IIRC port center spacing should be 112mm, like the bores.

car already has a road registered chev v8, 283cui 4.63lalready had papers submitted and they said no dramas, but need an engineers clearance/cert.

the new cop's for engine swaps are allowable with only minor inspections, you can legally get anything road registered if you have an engineer willing t sign off on it with a small fee (sarcasm again) aswell have indemnity insurance incase you kill yourself due to the fact it was approved and failed!!we going down the road of the yanks, where you can sue the owner of the house your burgling, bull****e i know!!!

ANYONE have soildworks, inventor, proE or similar 3d modeled file???all i really need is the lower intake runner to head manifold gasket/flange layout.

i can sort out the rest from there, i just dont have my motor apart to measure up, but my main concer is keeping runner lengths equal and long'ish to suit a decent wavefront, whilst keeping the intake height low, as to allow easier fit into most swaps.

if all goes well, making a plastic/frp composite intake. 2 part design. or worst case ally cored casting (not cheap but)

any head start would be greatly appreciated

cheers nat0

Runner 420mm length and 46mm tapering to 42 mm is all that is published.

Someone post up the dimensions and I'll throw together a drawing. I am a bit busy to go measuring atm, and it wouldn't pay to gamble on the VH41 heads that I have to have the intake side be 100% identical to a VH45.

It does appear that the ports spacing is 112mm. I forgot my heads arent here at the mo and have been slightly enlarged anyway. However all my ports appear to be within 0.5mm or less over the length of the inlet manifold at centres of 112 between each cyl. I can't give you the std individual port layout as I have merged mine just as they enter the heads, and matched them. However measuring centre to centre of each consecutive cyl is 112mm.

cool, cheers for the info so far.i think i have a single intake flange (port) drawn up without the actual port holes, but this houl be enough for me to base the flange on.

i will be able to later stage change the flange if need be,but what i need most is the left to right bank spacing, either port edge to edge or bolt edge to edge, ie left edge to left edge of a given hole/port etc or alternatively centres or right edges ya ya.

my first step is to model the flanges and the run a 'tube-run' up and over then into a morge for a plenum whuch will incorporate the cross head water flow and have a port out front as to get rid of the assy between the head, (remember 2 part intake, bottom & top housing) maybe even a separated assy which is all attached in some way.

think ls1 or vk56 intake for visual appearance, main concern is lowering the required bonnet profile height of the engine. I currently have my vh45 in my 240z with the bonnet just closing but the sump sits about 10-15mm below the crossmember could = ooch.

cheers nat0
