I suggest and oil change plus any other outstanding maintenance items.I know its boring but your truck will reward you with trouble free motoring, then do your mods.

Yeah, your QX sits pretty low...maybe it's just the running boards, or the apperance that Infinity threw up side molding everywhere and some of it stuck....Don't get me wrong, it's a good looking vehicle....but damn there's alot of plastic there. But, no...the real reason I'm here, not just to talk **** to fueler about his QX4 with Broken Things (i.e. running board...LOL) - Thanks again for the skid plate, btw...it's worked out beautifully...and wtf, man...I got less than a month to get this wheelin' thing done....get hot, bro!

Take care of your car and it will take care of you, dude...you can lift it, put on Swampers, huge subwoofers, neons, intake, exhaust.....and you know what all that will do? Sit there along with the rest of your junk when your drivetrain takes a dump all over the interstate 'cause the guy before you raped the piss out of the car and guess what! You bought it, your problem. Do yourself the favor. Change the oil (The 3.5 LOVES synthetic oil...I use Penzoil Platnum 10w-30), drain and flush the transmission, and swap out the gear oil in the diffs. I'd use Lucas just 'cause it's about the best stuff you can get for gears..don't forget your transfer case, too....(your car is 4wd, right?) Do a compression check on the engine, to make sure things are in shape, and replace the spark plugs and wires, since you have no idea the last time they were done. Air filter. Then, and only then would I squander my hard earned money elsewhere....'cause I'm guessing you're like the rest of us, and your car gets you to work...if the car blows up, you can't get to work, and you can't buy any more junk for the car....it's a vicious cycle.

I think you're getting the message. When I buy something, the FIRST thing I do is take it in and have all of the maintenance that should be done for the mileage. Trans flush, oil change, bearing repack, coolant flush, new plugs, whatever. I actually include this cost when I am purchasing a new car. If I have $9,000 cash, I look for vehicles priced around $8,000. Doing all that will also find any other issues that should be addressed.
