im new to the 240sx world but not to the car world, i just bought a 1990 240sx hatch and the man i bought it from said that there is a problem with the steering (i was going to replace the suspension anyways) so my dad and I are going to buy new struts and tein S-tech lowering springs. I have been looking at struts on ebay and i have chosen 3 diffrent types in 3 diffrent price ranges. 1) KYB AGX struts/shocks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1 2) Tokico HP struts/shocks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ13) KYB GR-2 struts/shocks http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1 Now i am on a budget so witch of the 3 would be the best? and also if you have your own favirotes please tell me. thanks a lot

i have the tokico blues.. theyre pretty good. i like the stiffness, but i'd trade them in for some coilovers anyday. coilovers are soo worth it, but yeah, just like u, i'm on a budget. my friend has the adjustable kybs, he tried all the stiffnesses and said he cant even tell the difference, so i dunno.

What are you going to be using the car for? If you're just looking for a quick replacement and adjustability doesn't matter for you, then I'd look towards the GR-2's.

If you're eventually wanting to autocross or drift, and feel like you want control over ride height and dampening, then I would skip straight to coilovers. There are some good ones on the market for not too much, like the Megans, Ksports, or Powertrix.

as of right now i have a budget of around $300 to $400, i really just want to get the car to were it can be a daily driver and reliable untill i can save up money to buy the exhaust and rims i want, and also maybe in a year i would spend $1,000 or more on some good coil overs, and to what i would like the car to be... its a 50/50 on daily driver and drift car, i want the control of a drift car but also a nice smooth ride.

I just installed RSR race springs with the AGX's, and I have to say I really love it. Of course coilovers would be nice, but like you said, you are on a budget. For the amount you have to spend, I would highly recommend the AGX's. Either way, good luck with your purchase!

Coilovers aren't necessarily the best solution for a daily driver though, depending on the quality of roads in your area.

Downtown Arlington/Rosslyn roads would blow a set of coils in no time, but not before they shook out all my teeth.

I wouldn't mind finding some relatively compliant coilovers though, if such a thing exists. Otherwise it's gonna be Nismo S-tune for me.

Going to be moving this to the Suspension forum, where I suggest you read some of the "sticky" threads at the top for all sorts of good info.
