I need some help

I am thinking of buying a 90 Q45. Im a college student without a lot of money and the price is good for me. The guy thats selling the car said that it needs the timing guides repaired or replaced. I am a Maxima guy and dont know much about Q's yet. How much would it cost me to have the guides replaced? Im just trying to find out how much I should expect to spend before I buy this car. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

I'm a college student too so I know how it is. If you're looking to buy a Q, make sure it's in tip-top shape. By that I mean, make sure the chain guides have been replaced, make sure it's a non-active suspension Q and the previous owners have been real good about regularly maintenancing the car. Also look for one that has a fresh transmission and not one with in excess of 100k on the original transmission. Search through previous posts about what to look for and you shall have all your questions answered.

If you have a military post nearby, look in their newspaper for classifieds, not enlisted folk, you want an old bird colonels car.Corporations ..look in their newsletter or ask if they have a classified on there web site. Corp types have the cash to treat the car right. You get the idea. Fish were the fat fish are.Avoid cars that need repairs, active suspention, steering racks, even exhaust can be pricey. Seat belt retractors on old maximas were crazy money. Widen your search area to a days drive you may find a Farmers babe with high miles but good shape.
