i need some help please!!!!!!!!! car wont start.

well i bought this 1990 240sx hatchback the problem that im having with the car is that when i try to start the car, it wont start at all it wont even crank, i just bought a new batterry for it. what could possibly be causing it to not start at all. im still a noob at this so go easy on me. post some pics if i have 2 look for any specific parts.

Starter? Is there a clicking sound coming from the engine bay when you turn the ignition?

it doesnt make any clicking noise at all. nothing happens!!!!!!!!!! please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!thanx

My starter went out on mine, its pretty comon.

I tested it with a voltmeter, get under the car and hook up to where the wires go to the starter and have someone turn the key, if the voltage jumps to ~12+ and no clicking/starting, then the starter is done, else it could be the wiring to the starter.

Any wiring from the ignition to the starter would be suspect to me if it isn't reading at least 12v at the starter.

Starter is about $120 in parts and would cost you $500 for a shop to do it. Try it yourself and learn something new.

do u guys think it might be a relay. or the ignition because when i insert the key on the ignition switch is loose big time.
