i have a 92 240sx my clutch would not go into gears very hard too so i had to go head and my father in law and husband changed the clutch slave cylinder, well it still didn't work, like many ppls i have seen it lost all pressure in the peddle and they tried to bleed it for like an hour. so i took it to a shop. well of course i had to get it towed which runs me 60 so the guy called me back and said my master cylinder is messed up and that some button on the clutch peddle is missing, here is my question that i need desperetly answered, he is chargein me 265 all together, which to me is a lot. when i can just get the master clutch cylinder for like 15 bucks and try to install it myself. but i don't know... i guess because of the button. What should i do!!!!!!!!!

You can get a new clutch master cylinder for about $30 and the button they're referring to is most likely the sensor to see if you have your clutch in to start your car. If yours is missing then either your car use to be an auto or somebody just bypassed it so you don't have to have the clutch in to start the car. Either way if your car starts for you then i wouldn't worry about because then you don't need it. Just have to make sure you press the clutch in if the cars in gear when you start it. And the sensors are only $20 or $30 tops. So a bill of 265 seems a little much. To install a new clutch master cylinder takes a whole 30 minutes. I just replaced the one in my car. If you do end up doing it yourself I would look up the article on here about bypassing the clutch dampener. It makes it a hell of a lot easier to bleed the system and it doesn't take long to do. Bleeding my system took ten minutes. Hope this helps.
