Hi guys, I am new, but not so new since nico is probably older than me lol j/k... I've just created an account to ask some help about my sr20det swap into my 92 coupe. I just need someone that have already did a lot of sr swap and who can help me by MSN.

I don't feel like asking 100 questions that you've probably seen 10 millions of time in the tech forum EDIT: Yes, I know, there's tons of how to, but I still have lots of questions, what to do or don't, problem you can expect with a JDM engine, part # etc..

Thank you!

You'll be lucky to get anyone to try to help you over a contact program like MSN or AIM. You've already put yourself out there as "I wanna pester you and ask a million questions about stuff that is easily accessible on the internet".

Please, do some research, read all of the swap how-to's on every website. Hell, get the freaking swap DVD and watch it. The motor swap isn't that difficult, it's just seems harder than it is.

Well, my main concern is about the engine. I'm not planning on rebuilding the engine because it'll cost probably more than I've decided to put into that old car.

I just want to have a list to thing I MUST change before I put the engine in.

I was thinking about:

Turbo gasket, front seal, oil pan gasket because I'll check the oil pan and remove every dent and verify the oil pickup, nismo or oem thermostat, new spark plug, 300zx fuel filter, check the clutch and change the clutch bearing with a new one, new power steering and alternator strap.

What about the rear seal, or the rear transmission seal ?

How many bottle of octane booster I have to put in my gaz if It already have 60L of 89 octane ?

Is it necessary to check the timing ? (I'll have to borrow a timing light...)

Other than that, I really need a list of part that broke most of the time with these old engine.

Another question... If I do a compression test, does this diagnose most of the problem I can see with the engine or It doesn't mean anything about metal parts I can see in the oil pan.

Does any part is missing for my swap: I start with a 92 coupe manual

Motor, Transmission, ECU, Wiring Harness, Turbo, Power Steering Pump, AC compressor, Alternator, Starter, Intake Manifold, Turbo Manifold, Ignitor Chip,MAFS, OEM downpipe, sidemount intercooler, aftermarket BOV

As for the electronic, I'll have to buy new wiring of the same gage.

Any vaccum or hose I'll need ? I'll probably need a new RAD so i'll have to buy a new sr20 rad hose, other than that ?

How to verify if the engine mounts are screwed. My old KA24DE mounts are too old. I cannot reuse them.

Thanks.....

Read the frequently asked questions thread, get one of those SR swap DVD's and watch it over a couple of times and download a factory service manual. zerothread/306956

The things that you mentioned are the basics.
