Well, as some of may know. I recently dynoed my ca and it did make what expected it to. 208rwhp with 198 tq. but it was short lived after I accidently over rev the engine (8k), luckily the block survived which mean I didn't put a hole thru it. I checked the compression on it today and found out that whatever failed is in the cylinder #4 the compression was only 100. I do not know yet what failed. Ring, piston, valve, or the combination of all. the sparkplug look fine tho.

after a long look into my banK account....let just say... it's sad. I only have 1 option OEM PARTS. my question is.1. I know that the US ca18de pistons will work but it will also raise my compression ratio as well, will my DET Head still work??($$$$???)2. Valves are they the same as the US?? just in case I have broken 1 or more of mine. 3.if the pistons work, ofcourse i will have to drop my PSI to about 7 from 10 where I am now...how much HP do u think it will withstand?.

I know that some of this questions may have already been answered, I just have some problem finding it, will u guys please help me out. I need to get it back on the road ASAP. Thanks in advance. C

If you broke the valves, or bent them, then you probably screwed the guides too. It SOUNDS like you may have floated a valve.

I have no experience with it, but I would imagine DE pistons would create a host of problems for you. I know even raising the compression a few points requires a standalone for proper tuning.

DE pistons on stock ECU = cracked pistons. even on stock boost. find someone with used DET pistons that's willing to part with one (***hint*** try boostboy)

DE valves are the same as DET as is everything else you might have busted up. Rings are DE as well.

I have a brand new set of CP pistons if you're interested.

Just to reiderate, you can't use the high comp pistons w/o standalone. I know this from experience, as does Sean (needcafors13). I'm currently running a high compression setup and I KNOW that witht he way that it's tuned right now, the stock setup would have knocked like made. You've got to pull alot of timing out when you get into boost.

Unless you can get some stupid high octane boost in there for race days, which is exactly what I intend on doing...

man, ive pegged mine to 9k on more than one occasion and it always just smiles and asks for more. i do have the ca of doom though, its like the energizer bunny....or a timex watch (takes a licking and keeps on ticking).

sorry to hear about your mishap though, ive got a bunch of misc. ca parts so let me know if i can be of some service.

You have done one of two things: (1) You either leaned your engine out resulting in a burnt headgasket fire ring and or melted a piston or cracked a ring land. Or (2) You blew your headgasket. But if it was the latter, you had better check all 4 pistons for possible cracked ring lands. Stay away from the high compression pistons. You have been warned as the reason is exactly what float mentioned in his post. MOst CA18DE head components will work with the CA18DET. Good luck.............

i dont think it sounds like a broken valve or somethying.

the machine shop i went to says when its a broken valve or soemthing similiar that cylinder will have like ten psi compression
