With this novice approach, just don't aim too high with expectations. Body work is a skill learned over time. People think it's a fairly quick process that'll give good result...when in truth, it's a painstakingly slow process, and attention to every last miniscule detail that reap rewards. Cost should not be an issue. OR, should I say, you should not attempt paint work on a beer budget. There's some things you just cannot do on the cheap... it's my opinion that paint is one of them.

There's my .02

Good luck..

oh I know for sure this ain't going to be a show stopper :)

i just want her to be one colour all over, you'd erally have to see the shape shes in. she used to be what is called mauve on the registration slip. paint is completely faded top panels of the car, hood and roof, the trunk lid has been replaced with an awesome condition black one, theres a red passenger fender, gold driver fender on the way....

see what i'm getting at? ;)

im sanding my car right now, me and my friend are gonna prime it in his garage this weekend, and my sister knows a guy who paints cars in his garage, he used to work at a paint shop or something and he has connections through chrysler still or sum sht like that, but anyways...he paints the whole car for 500 but through my sister im gettin done for 300. He does the sanding and priming himself but i figure i might as well do some of it myself for a learning experience

Colour is the Canadian way of spelling it, but we also use the spelling of color as well. Almost depends on how you were brought up spelling it.

Just like harbor and harbour. It can be spelt both ways, just maybe not in your mind.

BTW: NAPA has Flat black primer, thats what the 240 will be! :D For now anyways. :)

sr20meplease: so will I sand down the car with just 220 grit paper then? or proceed with 320? Even though this is going to be a ghetto job, I don't want to see all little scratches through the primer....

thanks!

anywhere there isn't primer sand 320 grit. if there anywhere primer is going to be(any kind of body work you should prime) you can just sand that spot flat with 220 and then when the primer dries block that out with 320....what i mean by "block" take a sanding pad or soemthing similar and then put the paper on that....so you get a nice flat even surface.
