Do you have speakers already installed into your car or are you trying to do everything from scratch, because if you are trying to better the ones you have first you must view them, and decide how much you want to move up, also you are not going to find the best best speakers without breaking the bank, but you could look for higher wattages.

Because I just installed some speakers in my trunk resently as well, so. I got some for the trunk at walmart some panasonic ones. They are good and i resently ordered some speakers for the front as well. If you are looking for your car to really bump and be real real loud you gonna have to look into get a boxed sub speaker, an amp, and new speakers.

I used to work at an audio shop and I found that there are a bunch of decent brands and a handfull of excellent brands...like everything else. There is a company called Bravox. They are a brazilian based acoustics company that only sell speakers. They focus only on speakers and are amazing at it. There 12' sub is the loudest on the market...but anyways...they can be a little pricey.

Rockford Fosgate released some components with 2 tweeters that sound very good and the company MB Quarts always makes good stuff.

If you don't mind chinese knockoff brands, there are a few options. I can't remember the name of the top of my head but one company bought the tooling to make the rockford components and another company called NT Power did the same for the MB Quarts. I bought the MB Quarts a few years back and payed 300 for them and recently bought the knockoffs and payed 50 for them. If you look in the crossovers, the capacitors even say mb quarts on them and they sound phenominal.

I would recommend going in to a shop and talking to someone because they can better explain everything in person but I would go with a component set up. This gives you a mid range speaker and usually a 1.5"-2" tweeter allowing you to experience some bass and also hit the high notes. The crossovers will also usually let you set the level of frequency for the tweeters(the brightness).

Don't forget the head unit too if you don't have one already. You can get them pretty cheap these days and the lower level radios will have a number of ways to tune your speakers(frequencies, mids, bass...). Hope this helps a little and let us know what you go with

Give me a budget and I'll simply tell you what's best for that price.
