would it be possible to successfully use a silicone sealant on the intake manifold to solve this problem?

If your stock gasket isn't torn it can be somewhat reused. I just lay a simple bead and smear it around making a LIGHT film around just enough to seal any imperfections. No need to Goober it.-Alex

Runners to plenum or runners to head? I might have a decent used one laying around. I will check the garage tonight.

That is exhaust manifold gasket, and I have them ready to be made, just don't know if there's a market or not.

For intake manifold, a good bead of some type of sealer (blue) would probably be just fine.

Well something similar should be fuel/oil resistant (same difference?). The fuel shouldn't touch it anyway with the pressures going on in the engine..
