I just got threw with a 5 speed swap on my 91 240sx and i need more detailed wiring info, I looked at someones post about the swap, but the wiring details are not very descriptive, I got the car started from the post wiring diagram but cant figure out how to make my reverse lights or my speedometer to work, thats all the wiring i need to know.

If anyone has done the swap before and knows how to explain the wiring in more detail to me that would be great.

Page 34 of the EL section of the 91-94 FSM.

In the auto power comes from the ignition switched fuse from the kick panel right side very bottom, its a 10 fuse. It passes through connect tor M11 and connects to E101 where it travel to the E14 connector which plugs into the auto shifter. When the shifter is placed in the R position the switch closes and sends power back out of the E14 connector into the rear harness into to the lamps and then to ground.

The manual is about the same, power comes out of M11 into the E17 connector which connect to the manual trans. When the trans is places in reverse the switch closes sending power back out of E17 back though M11 and into the rear harness through the lamps to ground.

So look at the auto shift and you will see the reverse switch. Match that wire to the corresponding pins on the E14 connector. Cut the two wires at that connector. Connect those wires to the two wire reverse switch on the trans and your done. Polarity does not matter at the switch.

The FSM is your friend.

The manual is the same except that

Locate inhibitor switch(in red circle) right behind battery.

In that plug, Green/Blue and Green/White wires go to reverse switch. Ignore Brown/Yellow wire in below picture.

If your reverse lights still don't work, something else is wrong. I don't know about speedometer. I didn't do anything special on mine and it just worked.

haha, that's a good catch. Yes, plug it in. That's what I did. Speed sensor is right below the shifter and it looks like a small can.
