DIY is exactly what it is, do it yourself, make your own pipping from scratch.

If you want to go with a kit you have a few options.

1. EBAY, el cheapo cooler kits can be found

2. Some of our venders sell kits for the RB engines

3. SR FMIC kit and mod the pipes

4. or the DIY. Buy some j or U bends and cut and paste.

Good luck.

Or you can go with a intercooler that has the Outlet and Inlet on the same side. Of course theres there are the cons to it.

I bought my rb20/rb25 intercooler from xs power for 170 shipped, and the piping is already made for the rb, no need to cut the cold pipe.

Or, you can get a real kit with excellent fitment from Hybrid-Power.com in Australia or in GA from http://www.hiprollc.com. They are advertising their kits for $375, including shipping/handling to anywhere in the continental US. Available with stock blue couplers, or with red or black couplers at no extra charge. http://hiprollc.com/Merchant2/...l.jpg

Sounds good, but the 20/25 kit on their site is an additional $50 than what you quoted. Good find on this, but I'm having a hard time justifying the additional $175 for the tubes when I can get an SR kit for only $250 shipped. But I'm new to forced induction and have never built a piping kit, so it may be worth it, if it is a drop-in replacement. Do you know if it is for the stock cross-tube intake manifold or a GReddy style intake manifold?

(and by GReddy style, I meant intake is on the side / no cross-tube , not the Ebay terminology for cheap Chinese sand-cast manifolds. )u

I bought this kit and its top notch for the price. I'm happy + comes with Tbolt clamps.

The $50 difference can be deducted you just have to do some searching for a discount code

I'll post pics of my car when its done at tophat- but they're mounting a dual-pass FMIC on my RB20 and making a kit based on mine- it should be available sometime soon. I'll get more info from Mike when I pick up my car.

Do you know how much hp this intercooler is rated for? How is the fitment on S13 chassis?

Mine fit extremely well with the stock intake. I have heard other people use the same kit with the Greddy mani but it requires cutting the cold pipe and rewelding. From the intercooler outlet, the cold pipe goes thru the frame rail instead of the battery tray. Info on the intercooler can be seen at http://www.hybrid-power.com/im...r.JPG. As someone mentioned above, you can get the kit at $375 from http://www.hiprollc.com by using coupon code FMIC50 to drop the price from $425 down to $375. I paid $475 for mine over a year ago and was well worth the price.

+1 for the Hybrid kit, and as far as the foward facing manifolds such as the Greddy, you can cut and weld the supplied cold pipe to fit, however you would need to buy a larger reducer coupler if using a q45 TB

Did you get the kit mounted succesfully? How easy/hard was it? Worth buying?

The kit is mounted on the car, it took a little massaging, but all intercoolers do. Heres how it looks:

Thank you for making this thread, because i just got my rb and i was worried about spending money on an intercooler that wouldnt be for crap from ebay. and i didnt want to spend 1100 dollars for a VSPL... But now i have options that are trusted by you guys and now im not worried that much anymore. Thanks!
