Ok heres the thing i was driving and a cop pulled me over for a window tint ticket. My windows are at 25% and the limit is 50% here in minnesota. I didnt even know there was a limit and i didnt know what % they were cause it was like that when i bought the car 4 months ago. And here is my problem. Window tint is a moving volation on your record and i already have 3 tickets on my record:SpeedingStop SignSpeeding

Now if i get this ticket it will go on my record and the state will pull my license. Is there anything i can do to stop this. THe only way i see to stop this is if i win in court. I need some of you guys input please.

Well I used get pulled over here and there for window tint, BUT the excuse "Its a show car officer" works wounders :)I've been pulled over maybe 4 times for tint, and the excuse "Its a show car officer" works perfectly.

dude if you're below the limit, just take it to court and you should be fine. once the officer had written the ticket there's nothing you can do to fight it besides goin to court... so I donno what answer you were lookin for.shouldnt be a problem though, just get something official saying the % of your tint and you'll be home free. make em look like jerks for doin this to you too- tell em you were on your way to your grandma's house who fell down or something... stick it to em man!

Had to have been a rookie cop trying to make quota... normal cops don't waste their time with such offenses.

As far as fighting it... good luck. The 50% window tint law in Minnesota has been in action since 1985 as far as I can tell.... and you can not have any windshield tint on your front windshield either.... (wonder why minnesota is so strict?)

If you can't get a shop to say your tint is 50% or give them a receipt that they pulled it off.... pull it off yourself and ask the judge to have someone escort you out to your car to prove the tint is gone..... this worked for me 3x on blue blinker lights about 3 years ago with my old Corolla....

believe it or not, cops do not work on a quota. cops here in louisville have a device that they can measure the tint with right there on the side of the road. ain't no gettin by that one

Here in Nashville they do for a fact.. I've had numerous cops tell me this.

It's not a quota...it's a work standard. If a police officer can't stop someone for a single violation in an 8 hour day when the general public witnesses them constantly as they drive around town, the officer isn't doing what the government pays him for ... ENFORCING THE LAWS, minor and major.

And 25% is DARKER than 50%. The number is indicating what percentage of light that a tint passes. A 50% tint passes half of the light, while a 25% tint only passes a quarter of it. All car window glass is about 80-90% from the factory.

Did he say that you can get it fixed and have the ticket revoked? I had the same problem but the cop told me to just get it fixed and bring it to the police station to have it checked out. They will sign it and then you bring it to the county courthouse and they will acknowledge it and the ticket will be revoked. Oh yeah you got to pay I think $4 for the cops for them to look at it and like $5 for the courthouse. Thats in Florida though.

Scrape the tint off. get an attorney. Have him get it dropped to improper equipment.

Well, from what I have heard, on the back windshield, it can be as dark as you want it to be, and on passenger and driver windows, it has to be like 25%, although all of my friends have 4% all around, cops arent that strict about it here in texas and really havent had anybody cop pull over my friends or my bro.

If you can prove that the tint shade you have is legal, go to court, but you better have proof. Make sure you read the local ordinance carefully to see that you also have it applied correctly. You may have the right tint, but the ordinances may permit only certain windows to be tinted. Every town is different.

Scrape it off, take before and after pics for proof, tell the judge it was like that when you bought it 3 months ago, and you didn't know otherwise until you were pulled over for it, he most likely will let you off.
