OK. IM new to s13's in general, and have just bought a 90 coupe for CHEAP. It has some things that need to be fixed, but for the price, I couldnt pass it up. The HUD doesnt work on the car. You have no idea how fast you are going unless you can reference rpms with MPH, which isnt hard to do, but I want this car to be done right from top to bottom, so it needs to be fixed.

I am switching the car from soch to dohc and building a ka-t. Thats not so much what I need help with as much as when doing this I need to know if the dohc cluster is better to use for the swap, or if I can use the sohc cluster. Should I replace the cluster with the DOHC HUD? Or the SOHC HUD? Can I switch to an analog cluster? I have heard that to ge the tach to work, you have to wire straight to it form the distributor, but then again, I dont know, this is my first sohc to dohc swap. And the whole HUD thing makes it even more difficult, but oh well, im trying anyway.Any help form past experiences you may have had will be helpful.

Thanks,

Josh

Upon further searching, ive learned that the tachs will interchange. I can unscrew the tach on the soch cluster and plant it on a dohc cluster, and it should read the dohc tach signal perfectly. which is good. im still trying to learn a bit about that though. Does this mean that since im doing a dohc swap that i can just use the digital dash and HUD from a dohc car and everything should work fine or what?

Here's a post with a link on how to repair the hud.http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....86390

If you get a dohc cluster it should work as long as it has the hud intact with it. Otherwise I'd attempt the repair as listed on that website before I bought another one. They're like hens teeth these days so you pay out your *** for em.
