I am currently saving up my money for a huge makeover for my wheels, brakes, and suspension. I will be doing a 5 lug swap (I have an S14 base model), and putting 18x8's in the front and 18x9's in the rear. Lines, pads, z32 30mm front conversion, and some eibach springs. The question is, should I get the pro kit or the sportline? I live in Washington DC and the roads are pretty harsh, but I also want a sleek low stance for my car. Any suggestions? Also, for all you tech heads out there, let me know if there are any problems with this set up.

Show me pics of an s14 on either springs if you have em.

Forever Nico. You guys rock.

sportlines provide more of a drop, and are stiffer than the prokits. They still will not be nearly as bad as coilovers or whatever. You shouldnt have any problems with bottoming out with either setup, but it will be a rougher ride. You are gonna need new shocks too.

i wouldnt get eibach. sportlines lower it too much for most shocks. look at our sponser for other choices, maybe tein s-techs.

Ive been learning its more about the spring rates than the drop. Sportlines offer more drop, but the fronts are barely stiffer than ProKits (and rears are the same).

S Techs and RS-R Race have about the same drop as ProKits, but are much stiffer.

Springs with too much drop just kill your shocks faster, and voids the warrenty of most (maybe all??) aftermarket shocks.

Zenki love!!

Hey thanks guys. Sounds like the S techs are a good bet. Although the prokit looks good on the maroon s14. (by the way eddie, we have similar cars, maroon s14 with black leather interiors I wish I could post some pics but I just moved to London and I'll be here for the next 10 months. I miss my zenki. But seeing all the crazy Skylines on the road and for sale make me want to pee my pants. I'll post some Skyline pics once i get some!

both eibachs have the same stiffness as stock, your not helping your handling there

as far as tein goes, theyre a good safe bet, but your handling still wont be where you want it because they are progressive

either of the RS*R springs are a good call, the race are much stiffer than the down and youll feel it in your ride

another thing to look at would be whiteline if you dont want overly stiff springs, they offer a nice drop with a little higher spring rate

check the suspension FAQ sticky at the top of the page, youll find pretty much every spring in there for our cars, and the spring rates and drop for each

so if i got either the s techs or the RS R's, would they work ok on my stock shocks? My shocks have plenty of mileage on them.

I have Sportlines on my S14.....

and I have NO idea where people are coming up with this BS.

They ARE stiffer than stock....in the front for sure.

The car handles MUCH better. It's no coilover setup but I was very impressed with the handling change with just springs.

They are definately low but with a 1.7" drop (IIRC) they aren't going to kill your shocks much faster than the typical ~1.4" drop of most other springs.

I would recommend them.

my first spring was the prokit, i had some cheapo after that (dont ask), d2 coilovers and now sportlines with tockicos for the past 6-8months

they ride great and have a great drop if you are looking for that low stance

this is how my car looks currently

new shocks would be a necessity, otherwise itll get pretty bouncy

if you think theyre that much stiffer go look at the FAQ like i said...maybe something was wrong with your stock springs/shocks

That drop looks good, but I have the same Eibach Sportlines installed on my 91 240sx and it does not look as dropped as that. My rear still sits high with about 3-4" gap between fender/tire, front about 2-3" gap. Is it your tokico shocks that help the drop???

you might want to check out the ksport coilover on the advertise specials. the spring rate on it is very streetable.

Well I have decided I will be going with Megan Racing Street Series Coilover Kit 240sx 89-98: FREE SHIPPING for $865 at Intense Power. They seem to be very nice and good price.

Since I began this thread, I've decided I will probably purchase Tein SS coilovers. Any inputs on these or any other Tein coilovers?

Tein are very popular. I have the tein HE on my car (S14) and I guess they are pretty good. Its definately stiffer and handles a lot better than stock.

The only thing that I can complain about is the Shock adjustability, I don't really feel a difference between any of the setting and also my rear passenger assembly makes this squeking noise when going over bumps which I assume the shock must be blown, but haven't really had the time to get under there and check.Overall they are a decent setup and are located in the US now if you ever had any problems

I just installed some eibach sportlines on my 1990 240sx coupe... it's not much of a drop at all compared to stock... maybe a 1 finger drop in the front.....

You'll regret Sportlines. They will shorten the life of your shocks significantly (i'd give the benefit of the doubt if they were paired w. Koni's but no one ever uses those). There are a crapload of better springs out there, namely from RS*R, Tanabe, Suspension Techinques, Tein, etc. And if you plan to pair these w/ the KYB AGX's, Sportlines will void the AGX warranty (can't lower the car more than 1.5" w/ AGX's).

I do regret them, as they don't lower the car enough. I need to lower it another 2" - 3" !!!

I'm going to pair them with some koni yellows if the koni's have a couple of different perch settings.....
