i need help with a not start problem

Ok. I new to the site and I originally came here looking for help. I have a 89 240 fastback, a few days ago i was taking my girlfriend to golf when my car just died. It would crank over, but would not start. I had it towed home, and then proceeded to check the spark. It was getting no spark. There was power to the coil and nothing afterwards. After cranking it over fuel smells really strong so I do believe it is getting fuel. The rotor button in the distributor IS spinning. The motor is a stock KA24E (single cam). Please help me, I miss my car, and cannot afford to take it to a garage to get it fixed. Thanks

My guess is it isn't getting spark and what ever is getting power but not doing anything with is is broken?Sounds like it could be a bad wire leading to the distributor, or a bad coil...read up on how to test the coil, and the wire(search here and google should come up with something...)Good luck and Welcome to NICO

Run to the store and pickup a oem coil, can't be too expensive, if it is, get a MSD Blaster SS Coil, fairly cheap, you'll have to wire it up though.
