Why get rid of it when I can just get a DE?redtop91 wrote:Don't sell it. Save and get another. And even so, what's the sentimental connection you have to that particular car? If it's a POS, as all SOHC powered 240's are, get rid of it and get what you want.
Maybe I will keep the SOHC. As you said, it holds more boost, which is the one thing I really need. I just need to find a website that has the parts I need at reasonable prices. What I'm looking for right now is maybe a short shifter. If I got a short shifter for the DE would it fit the E?my90coupe wrote:keep the sohc we just took the dohc out of my buddys car and converted to sohc holds more boost and is way cooler to beat on mustangs with the single slammer
but if you wanna swap just do a ca or something because by the time you build the bottom end and turbo it you could have a real swap
im in the process of getting the last couple parts for my swap and then the rb20 is going in
Ok good...then I can get that B&M short shifter I want.martins_240sx wrote:yes it will. and you arent gonna really find anything cheaper than what youve aready looked at. sorry, the price you pay for the car you choose
Maybe not as bad as others but in comparison to any other motor possibility they most definitely are.martins_240sx wrote:ouch. not mine
Say you paid $3k for for the piggy you have. A DE powered Chuki can be had for not much more. Say $3500. Sell the piggy, get a chuki for $500ish more. $500 Nissan installed everything working > 15 year old done DE swap. That's why.King Ranzo wrote:

Well it was one of the couple ideas I had for my car. I've been deciding what I am going to do motor wise for the past few months. At first, I thought SR. Then I stopped thinking about it for awhile. Then I finally came on Nico and started learning about the car. I finally thought about the RB. And then I had the KA DE idea. Now I'm just torn between ideas. Some of you guys are telling me to keep the E. My friend Carlos told me to just keep the E and save up for an RB and then buy the RB when I have the money and just study it until the E blows. I would love an RB, but I don't have a job. I am, however, gonna look into a job at maybe Burger King. I just really don't wanna put my hair in a pony tail...but at the same time I don't wanna freak customers out by making them thinking I'm some sort of metal-head psycho path that would cum in their food.redtop91 wrote:If you are gonna do all that you might as well buy another shell and work on it in the meantime. If that was the intention all along why didn't you put that in the poll?
I haven't dynoed it yet but I'm guessing i'm at the 250rwhp range.martins_240sx wrote:EXAMPLE=At 10psi I dynoed out at 251hp-263tq.....spooled240, I notice you run 10psi daily. do you happen to know your hp/tq.
check my build out search for true pig build
you're fifteen and money is tight, I know exactly how you feel. Stick with the sohc with a low boost setup (200rwhp) with an fmu, cheap and reliable. At your age and income, you'll be thankful for any kind of boost. I would rock the ka24e-t and drive it to the ground then when you're a little older and making more money you can consider other options like the DE or possibly a rb, sr, etc.ilovesideways wrote:well...fifteen year old working at burger king will not pay for an RB swap.....
