def. just did this : take off the valve cover, take off the intake and exhaust manifolds, (i took out the radiator to make more room for me), take off the top of the timing chain cover, ratchet on the cam gear and wrench on the cam right behind the gear, take the cam gears off, take the cams out, the head bolts r under the cams with an allen socket, remove head bolts and take the head off. it wasn't really that hard it just sounds like it......by the way u need new headbolts when u put the head back on and remember to tourque everything down and be careful with the cams and bearings....have fun!

the cams are held in by brackets right on top of the cams. they have 10mm bolts on them and there are 12 of them 6 for each cam. the cams might nees some prying out even when those brackets r off but just be carefull. now to keep it on time, make sure before u take anything off its on tdc timing. the #1 cylinder needs to be all the way up on the compression stroke, mark the top of the cam gear with sumthing and remember what position the cams are in. it'd probly be a good idea to take pictures as u disasemble to make it easier to put it all back together. the head bolts on the 240 are tourque to yield bolts, they strech when they are installed. so the old ones are garbage. good luck and let me know of anymore issues u have

you could always just put a socket on the crank pully and turn it to tdc

dont forget!!!! unless your taking the intake manifold off, you need to take a bracket off that connects the block to the intake mani.and the cams are held in by 12 bolts each cam, 10mm each.(i know this because i have a spare head next to me, and ive got the cams off the kade in my 240 for valve stem seal replacment)to get to TDC cyl 1 compression stroke, align the crank pully with the second mark from the left, itll be red. and if your on compression stroke the first cam lobes will be pointing DIRECTLY away from each other. just like this when looking at the front of the engine <- -> . also be sure to lube all moving parts up when re installing. for you itll mainly be the cams.

hey man i just had to rebuild my three times dont ask why.ok if you have the valve cover and the cam gears off you have to take thecams out remember with one is intake and exuast. then eith the cams out you can see 10 head bolts you have to buy a bit that is 10mm - 12 i cant remember.thats about it with the head. be sure the intake and the exaust is off the head first. and you can throw away the intake brakets that hold the bottom of the intake to the block.

lol i did the same junk the first time i tried it, u have to put all the brackets back on. u have to take the gears off before u take the brackets off. put the 24mm on the bolt and get an adjustable or the right size wrench (i forget what it was) and put it on the cam behind the cam gear, u'll see it it looks like a big nut integrated into the cam. then have at it. it took me and a strong mother ****er to get them off.

kinda sucks bro i'm glad i live in florida! but ya i used to live near boston so i know how it is. i feel ur pain lol

i just thought i should throw this in there incase anyone has anything to say or has a different opinion...when i got the car towed to my house it had no gas in it...i put 5 gallons in and ran it a little to check a few things...but i noticed that my gas gauge just dropped as i sat in the car...and when i drained the oil all the gas came out black mixed with oil...so is the gas mixing with the oil in the oil pan normal for a blown head gasket?...or does anyone think something else isup?
