i own a 240sx 1992 convertible. i am the third owner of the vehicle. the previous owner was a mechanic, and a good one the engine is in top quality, but hethought he was an electrician. needless to say the cars wiring is Jerry rigged, but that's not my main problem. the engine hood will not fully latch, when i close it it will latch to the point of where u unhook it with the little nob,(as if i had opened the hood with the leveler under the dash) i dont know why it wont fully close. does anyone have answers. all answers are greatly appreciated.

I'd look for obstructions first. See if there's something holding it from closing all the way.

Will the hood press all the way down (level with fenders) but just not latch? If so, the latch is sticky or broken. Lube the latch with some WD40 and work it in...

If it won't latch because it's not fully engaging, you can adjust the latching mechanism up / down by loosening the 2 10mm bolts (they're on the inside of the support brace).

You can also check the rubber stoppers. If they are too high then the hood wont close. You can simply just thread them in more and they are lowered.

You may also want to check if your hood release cable isn't sticking open. That will keep your hood from locking shut. Good luck.
