I just got a nissan 240sx coupe, it's a 93 and it wont start. I have been told that it is my ignition relay however, no one can find it on my car. I am hoping that someone might know were to look, I have searched everywhere and no luck. This is my first car and I would really like to be able to work on it myself

black box behind the battery. the cover will give you the location of the "ign relay". are you positive it's the relay?

The ignition relay is a relay next to the inside cabin fuse box on the driver's side. It supplies power to the accessories of the car when the key is turned to 'on'

Since you haven't given any information as to what the car is doing when you turn the key, it's next to impossible to help you out right now. But I can say for certain you issue is not the ignition relay.

nope it doesn't make any noise at all. When I got it it would take a couple try's to get it to start and after about 2 weeks it just wouldn't start at all

It could be something in the ignition system. You need to go through and verify that you're getting a good spark. The distributor could be having issues.

I think it is the starter relay ( the one between the batt. and the fender) my brothers car wouldn't start because of that one but we can't seem to find it anywhere on my car I have also been told it could be black but i still can't seem to find this thing any where. Any clues?

So it was starting up, then it sat for 2 weeks and now it won't start? Am I getting this right? I would try testing the battery 1st then move on to fuses and relays. Get back to us on that.

hooked up my brothers red top all lights and every thing come on its just the car won't turn over. this has been happening for awhile its just that usally it would start after a couple tries. the only reason it has sat for 2 weeks is because of the fact i cant get it started. i just need to find that stupid relay

You should troubleshoot a little more before you just start putting parts on till it fixes it. It could be the starter,,,the relay,,or even the ignition switch. Is it a 5spd or auto also? There are so many things that could not make it turn over.

Do the dash lights change at all when you switch it to the "start" mode of the key? Also I know it sounds crazy but try moving the shifter through the gears while bumping the start cycle just to make sure its not the neutral safety switch. It is sounding more like the electrical part of the switch (part behind the key cylinder) or the starter relay. Hope you get it figured out.
